As a Principal Project Manager, you'll guide teams to drive and manage high-quality execution and operational excellence, as they deliver technology solutions that meet business needs and maximize customer experience, growth and retention. This role will manage the Optum Portfolio of the Enterprise Decommission Program. This Program has a $350M Target for 2019 and similar targets in future years.

This role has responsibility for one of the most challenging and complex capital programs at Optum and UnitedHealth Group. You'll be responsible for driving the conversations that articulate a solution for this very complex program and leading the team that will deliver results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Socializing the benefits of the Program with Optum Stakeholders and Leadership

  • Identifying new opportunities and drive teams to identify them as well

  • Managing very diverse groups and personalities and supporting them in a dynamic environment

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders for the Enterprise Decommission Program

  • Pursue opportunities to decommission technology assets by adopting new technologies or sun-setting those assets to realize in year and future year costs savings

  • Drive and manage staff across organizational lines to achieve aggressive goals

  • Compile status reports and share progress with executive Leadership as necessary

  • Manage and ensure compliance with IT structures/processes/technologies

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • 8 years of professional IT Project or IT Program experience

  • 5 years leading teams and managing matrix IT department in a large, enterprise environment

  • Prior experience leading cross-functional distributed teams

  • Viable work locations are in: Eden Prairie, MN or Hartford, CT or Irvine or Cypress, CA or in Basking Ridge, NJ Optum offices

  • Internal Optum Tech experience is required (internals or previous employees)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health care industry experience

  • Executive presence and ability to present and communicate with Sr. Directors and VP level audience

  • Optum experience and knowledge

  • Driven to achieve aggressive operational targets

What you'll do: * Be a liaison between the business and agile technology teams to support a variety of projects that impact Customer Care agents and the systems they use: * Telephony platform * Email platform * Order Management systems * Accounts Receivable systems * Operating Systems * Microsoft Office Products * And more * Provide support to Telephony team as needed to ensure production issue tickets are opened, monitored and actively worked by vendor * Communicate technical implementations and other technical changes to Customer Care leadership on a regular basis to ensure success * Coordinate and manage technical implementation pilots that are necessary to test new applications prior to full implementation, reporting on issues, opportunities and progress * Monitor upcoming system down-times actively and communicate in advance to Customer Care teams * Collaborate with Training and Knowledge teams to ensure documentation of technical enhancements, upgrades, etc., are accurate and delivered to Customer Care agents in advance * Communicate with Workforce Management team on technical implementations that will require agent training, may impact KPIs or will result in changes to reporting metrics * Participate in project scope definition, goals and deliverables as needed * Monitor and manage Customer Care JIRA pages to ensure SLAs are met for tickets * Coordinate project postmortems to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements What you'll need: * Bachelor's degree in a technology field (IT, engineering), or project management or at least 5 years related field experience in call center technologies (VoIP/SIP, telephony, and networking projects), or call center management. * In-depth understanding of project management principles (managing), as well as a lifecycle methodology (process to do the work). * Strong background in contact centers, consumer customer service and inbound sales. * Excellent interpersonal, verbal, listening and written communication skills. * Solid time-management and organizational skills; able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. * To be self-motivated, a self-starter and taking initiative. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio. * Strong understanding of telephony technology (IVR, WFM, QM). * Understanding of testing methodologies.
