Aon is looking for an Enterprise Cloud Application Architect

Your impact as an Enterprise Cloud Application Architect
The successful candidate will be based out of either Spokane, Washington or Chicago, IL working closely with both local and global architecture, application development and engineering colleagues to help accelerate and drive the next wave of innovative new products and services. They will be part of a global Enterprise Architecture team providing a center of excellence spanning public and private cloud that helps define and support services, processes and technology platforms which colleagues can leverage in an autonomous and secure way. We are looking for experienced technical architecture leaders with a strong self-directed work ethic who can help break new ground working with global teams to establish new standards and reference architectures/patterns for cloud services.
Applicants are expected to have experience with:
Modern application development and application architecture to be able to engage at advisory level with application teams
Designing and building highly scalable cloud native, micro-services architecture based applications including serverless functions.
Building and leveraging containers (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes based such as ECS, EKS, AKS, PKS)
DevSecOps platform architecture and toolset needed to deliver infrastructure as code (e.g. GitLab, Jenkins, BitBucket, Artifactory, Ansible)
Experience with embedding security and governance in cloud native platforms (e.g. static / dynamic testing, monitoring, such as X-ray.
Applicants are expected to have hands on experience in architecting, testing, piloting, deploying, and troubleshooting new capabilities in the Cloud DevSecOps space. They should have a strong security mindset to help define and advance the security standards and practices around the cloud estate in adherence to internal governance and security risk management policies and be able to communicate and evolve that same mindset within global teams.
Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state)and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
Provide consulting support to application architects within projects to ensure the project is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models. Analyze the technology industry, competitors and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise.
Define the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.
Consult with application and infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solutions architecture.
Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture.
Work closely with the program management office (PMO) or project management office to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised.
You Bring Knowledge and Expertise
5+ years' experience in a similar role.
Experience with cloud platforms AWS-Primary must-have, Azure-secondary
Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and Container Orchestration frameworks highly desirable.
Familiar with distributed microservice design and orchestration including event-driven asynchronous messaging patterns.
Experience with Scripting languages and automation incl. Infrastructure as Code and Application Configuration Management tooling such as Terraform and Ansible.
Development experience in Python, C# or other programming language with willingness to learn more as required.
Experience working with CI/CD tooling and declarative GitOps style pipelines highly desirable.
Experience with PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry), MuleSoft or other API Management Platform will be helpful.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Able to work independently with strong leadership skills.

Excellent technical skills with knowledge of cloud platforms, automation and security.

Education: B.S. required
AWS certification preferred
