Job Purpose:

As an Enterprise Architect at Invesco, the candidate would align business outcomes to technology goals and objectives. This position is tasked with taking new and innovative technology optimization techniques and applying them to business projects and programs. An Enterprise Architecture (EA) discipline is essential in delivering on our EA Framework and bringing an architecture competency to our organization. This position requires a candidate who can partner with development teams and other architecture groups to develop strategies and roadmaps that turn our technology products into enablers for our business.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Create and manage data, applications and technology architecture documentation and design artifacts

Work across teams to deliver meaningful reference architectures that outline architecture principles and best practices for technology advancement

Gain adoption of architecture processes, standards and procedures

Provide expert consultancy and mentoring to formulate technical strategies and align them to both technology and business goals and objectives

Work with development teams and other project leaders/stakeholders to provide technical solutions that enable business capabilities

Architect and deliver robust multi-tenant platform solutions

Provide hands-on technical leadership throughout software development lifecycle for composite applications (assist and/or lead requirements gathering, Proof of Concept (POC) development, RFP creation and evaluation, design, development, implementation and close out

Work Experience / Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in Information Technology Architecture and/or 5 years Software Development

Immersion and exploration into disruptive technology approaches resulting in business and technology transformation assessments and a quantifiable business case

Strong knowledge and hands on experience in architectural principles, standards, technical trends, and industry best practices

Must have strong technical expertise in Enterprise Java, Event Based Messaging, Unix/Linux, SQL, Relational Databases and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)

Knowledge of J2EE Web Services, SOA, XSLT, SOAP, REST, XML, JSON

Experience with migration of legacy applications to modern, multi-tenant technology platforms:

o Apigee

o ActiveMQ

o ForgeRock

o Splunk

o VerticaDb

Experience mentoring/managing large scale integration projects

Experience with modern development and organizational methodologies (Agile, Kanban, XP, DevOps, etc.)

Understanding of the Investments process and the systems, workflows and data required to support this

Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:

  • Must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and be comfortable working with senior leadership

  • Influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization and manage conflict in a tactful way

  • Detail oriented, self-starter with strong organizational skills to multi task.

  • Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines while remaining professional and courteous

  • Able to work independently or as part of a tea

  • Able to keep knowledge up-to-date in the appropriate technical and business related areas

Preferred skills (not required):

  • Strong understanding of data virtualization and data virtualization platforms like Denodo or Composite

  • Enterprise Integration Patterns, Tiered architecture, Object-Oriented techniques/design patterns

  • Grails, Ruby, Gradle, API Management/API Gateway, Ant, Fitnesse, HTML/XHTML/AJAX/DHTML, JavaScript, NoSQL, mongoDB, Eclipse, SVN, Redis and Hadoop

  • Knowledge of TOGAF and Zachman architecture frameworks

  • Working experience in Data Warehousing and large scale data integration projects

  • Working experience with messaging systems

  • Experience with Identity and Access Management (IaM), Identity Provider (IdP) technologies and application security best practices

  • Financial Services/Asset Management

Formal Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred but relevant work experience and background is foremost
