Selective is seeking someone who will provide infrastructure and security architecture leadership across the enterprise in alignment with the overall enterprise architecture strategy. This role requires collaboration with peer enterprise architects and technical leads to define sound technical solutions in support of business initiatives. The individual will establish infrastructure and security standards and make recommendations on solving asset lifecycle management challenges. Additionally, the successful applicant will be expected to define an infrastructure and security architecture future state that aligns with business strategy and manages technical risk. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.


  • Works closely with others in the enterprise architecture team to define the overall enterprise strategy, with a focus on our overall cloud strategy. Develops and monitors principles that ensure alignment of enterprise cloud, infrastructure, and security architecture to the enterprise strategy.

  • Defines and monitors enterprise cloud, infrastructure, and security design patterns with emphasis on reuse and standardization that contribute to efficiency.

  • Defines and monitors use of enterprise standards for cloud, infrastructure, and security platforms, tools, services, and frameworks.

  • Monitors the execution of our enterprise cloud strategy and escalates areas of concern.

  • Collaborates with technical architects non-functional requirements, design, performance, and modernization in alignment with the overall enterprise infrastructure and cloud strategies.

  • Provides mentoring and guidance to less experienced staff.

  • Defines an overall infrastructures architecture future state including the introduction of new technologies and methodologies, modernization opportunities, and the management of technical debt. Recommends infrastructure lifecycle management efficiencies.

  • Participates in the systems planning process for new business initiatives by evaluating solutions against company standards and assesses technical risk.

  • Ensures the right balance of rapid delivery of business initiatives with technical best practices.

  • Evaluates platforms, tools, and emerging technologies that are candidates for the future state architecture and evolving business strategy. Conducts vendor analysis and proof-of-concepts for new technologies and solutions as needed.


  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, or other related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in infrastructure architecture, technical architecture, or cloud architecture

  • Experience developing and presenting strategic plans.

  • Hands on architectural experience necessary.

  • Project management experience strongly preferred.

  • Working level ITIL knowledge required.

  • Experience with cloud computing design and implementation, containers, and automation.

  • Experience working with project and delivery teams adhering to an iterative delivery methodology or lean manufacturing (Agile, SCRUM, KANBAN).

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, along with superior collaboration ability.

  • Must demonstrate initiative, exercise good judgment and have the ability to achieve results through others.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and be respected as a leader and mentor.

Responsibilities: Branchville and Branch Office Data Centers and MDF/IDF Closets * Hardware Lifecycle - delivery, installation & decommission for all Selective locations * Manage floor space / cabinet orientation * I&O Proof of Concepts (POCs) * Vendor Management - Fiber and copper data center cabling * UPS inventory and support * Office relocations Operations and Monitoring * Maintain video display boards in Ops Command Center * Manage Monitoring Tower - Managed Service Provider (MSP) * Participate Change Management * Maintain L3 support for the virtual and physical Infrastructure hardware, operating system and virtual machines on servers that support our business requirements * L3 Major Incident Support * Monitor Remedy Queue's & Operation emails * Manage/Create Standard Operating Procedures * Training - Staff/MSP * Infrastructure/Application Alert/Response review * MSP Access Coordination * Onboard new MSP team members (complete paperwork and access) Please note: These responsibilities each have underlying tasks.
