Job Description Summary: Lead the long-range planning for the structure and interaction of the enterprise's major types/sources of data, information needs, and business processes/strategy. Responsible for decisions/priorities regarding the overall enterprise's architecture. Translate business needs into architectural solutions (current and target state) and defining solutions to problems through application of information technology. Facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards/guidelines that direct integration of multiple platforms. Develop/document the framework for integration/implementation for changes to architectural standards. Determine architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability and security needs. Provide technical guidance to project team. Coach the development of Jr. IT architects.

Job Specific Information: The Enterprise Architect position is part of the Architecture job family at FedEx Services designed to attract and retain professionals in the Enterprise Architecture discipline as it relates to architecting and delivering enterprise, large scale, global solutions.

The Enterprise Architect will act as a technical product owner for Ephemeral Environment Capabilities which is a part of Autobahn that leads to efficient and optimal use of Dev and Test resources. As an Ephemeral Environment Capabilities Product Owner, this individual will own all the services consumed by application development teams to conduct testing at all levels as a part of Autobahn. Ephemeral test services deliver efficiency improvements for application development teams and lead to optimal use of Dev and Test infrastructure resources. As product owner, this individual will design, maintain, and delivery on the ephemeral services feature roadmap. They will work directly with application development teams to gather feedback on existing services, as well as new feature request and services that can deliver efficiency to application development teams. This person will also oversee architectural leadership and deliverables supporting core enterprise applications, programs, and projects to further the company's global, cross operating company strategies.

  • Decisions and priorities regarding ephemeral testing capabilities.

  • Facilitate the establishment and implementation of ephemeral testing standards and guidelines. Collaborate with ephemeral testing capability owners and leadership to improve or deliver new services.

  • Work closely with teams adopting the capabilities Plan, manage and prioritize backlog of ephemeral testing capabilities.

  • Provide technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate.

  • Ensure ephemeral testing champions receive continual training and oversee the champion community Own, build and monitor compliance and adoption reporting.

  • Act as primary Liaison for ephemeral testing Responsible for understanding challenges of consumers of the capabilities and helping remediate those challenges through proposed changes in the areas of technical documentation and training.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus:

  • Proven technical skills in Java, Spring Boot, GitHub, Enterprise CI, Jenkins, Service Virtualization (SOAP, REST, JSON, EJB)

  • Experience with IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms

  • Basic understanding of ephemeral testing

  • Technical skills in Oracle, DB2 and DataStax

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Demonstrated experience architecting, designing, implementing, and delivering global, enterprise solutions

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with developers, analysts, and business staff throughout the organization.

  • Ability to express complex technical information in a user-friendly language and style.

  • Present information effectively in one-on-one, and small group settings, including executive management.

Domicile/Relocation: Collierville, TN.

Remote Verbiage: The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.
