Join a team of dedicated and talented engineers working to build the future architecture to support the ever-evolving needs of Joint Training. The Alion Simulation Engineer leads the design of a brand-new simulation system, from the ground up, in a modern web architecture that combines the best of breed capabilities of previously developed technologies while leveraging current industry trends and new technologies to produce a sim that will meet training needs today and well into the future.
Duties and Responsibilities
Will be responsible for simulation requirements capture, simulation design and CONOPS, simulation implementation, and testing procedures.
Candidate will work with the requirements, data, software development, infrastructure, and test and evaluate teams to coordination and support the development of an interactive but highly automated simulation of military combat and crisis response for strategic and operational training using cloud technology.
Ability to evolve a system architecture, coordinate the work of a matrixed development organization working in an agile environment, and to perform individual development, research, and experimentation.
Take the lead on ensuring that the simulation design makes effective use of available technologies, simulation requirements are being accurately captured and addressed, that development leads to an efficient, modular, open architecture, that alternative design approaches are properly evaluated by conducting experiments where needed, and that a usable product increments are being delivered.
Apply concepts of discrete event and continuous simulation, distributed computation, and behavior generation to achieve state of the art simulation capabilities.
Experience and Technical Skills
The position requires a person that can function well in a loosely structured team environment.
Must have strong background in simulation and software development with additional experience in some of the following areas:
Web based systems, Cloud Computing, discrete event simulation, computer programming, and networking,
