This is a newly created position intended to promote and coordinate an excellent Mechanical Engineering (ME) Graduate Program through developing effective recruiting and retention activities as well as impactful programming for the graduate students.
The position will support both World Campus and resident students.
The overall purpose of this position is to recruit, retain, and support a high-quality, international, and diverse graduate student population in Mechanical Engineering. To assess the effectiveness, the Graduate Program Coordinator will gather, analyze, and present data to explore trends and develop effective programs. The successful candidate will be able to implement and assess the ME Graduate Program with an emphasis on recruiting outstanding students to Penn State including developing a strategy for attracting students by creating and strategically disseminating promotional materials at professional meetings and conferences attended by prospective graduate students.
The candidate will coordinate the follow-up with prospective students including campus visits. Student retention will also be promoted through orientation programs and developing new professional programs. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. It is desirable to have an understanding of the discipline and the many opportunities for mechanical engineers with a graduate degree.
