POSITION DETAILS

Often referred to as "The Jewel of the CUNY system," Queens College is a place of contrasts: an urban school in a suburban setting, where a large and diverse student body receives personalized attention. This formula has made us one of New York's premier educational institutions.

With a mission to prepare students to become leading citizens of an increasingly global society, we offer a rigorous education in the liberal arts and sciences under the guidance of a faculty dedicated to both teaching and research. Our liberal arts, science, and pre-professional programs earn us high rankings in prestigious college guides such as the Princeton Review America's best value colleges. Our students graduate with the ability to think critically, address complex problems, explore various cultures, use modern technologies and information resources, and have won prominence in nearly every field.

In support of the campus mission and strategic plan, we seek an experienced Registrar to assist the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs with planning, organizing and managing all activities related to student records, course and classroom scheduling, registration for courses, enrollment verification, graduation certification, web-based attendance and grade systems, and the daily operations of the Registrar's office.

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, the Registrar will play an instrumental role in the management of Queens College's central student service center also known as the QC Hub. The QC Hub provides support and direction to students in the following areas: Registrar, Financial Aid, and academic and enrollment management technology resources and associated applications. The Registrar also closely collaborates with stakeholders college-wide, particularly in Academic Affairs and Information Technology Services, and will drive the re-design of business processes, as well as the implementation and management of various technology solutions to support student success.

Along with the CUNY Title Overview, the Director will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Demonstrate leadership, articulate a vision, effectively manage the Office of the Registrar, and oversee all operational activities associated with the enrollment and registration process.+ Alongside the VP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, develop and implement the College's strategic enrollment goals and play a pivotal role in the maintenance of the University's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.+ Develop a systematic approach to addressing student issues, including providing recommendations for business process improvement to complex functional issues.+ Provide oversight for the institution's student information system and provide strategic operational supervision of student records and registration, documents, and systems support.+ Work collaboratively with the Financial Aid Director to provide a seamless student services model within the QC Hub and establish a high level of service and productivity within the department and division.+ Review and make recommendations for technology hardware and software to enhance staff efficiency, workflow, and service management functions, and serve as principal liaison to the division of information technology to appropriately leverage available technology. Supervise and motivate staff members, communicate performance expectations, and conduct performance appraisals on an annual basis.+ Field and implement new technologies to enhance and upgrade campus registration, institutional data collection and dissemination, and enhance degree audit protocols and processes.+ Assist the Vice President in developing policy and procedures as they pertain to the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management division, provide data to facilitate decision-making and ensure the proper preparation and dissemination of metrics detailing departmental performance, as needed.+ Direct a wide array of enrollment and retention initiatives and special projects and participate in University initiatives and serve/chair various teams, committees, and action groups.
