About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

This role is an enrollment marketing coordinator for SMU Lyle School of Engineering. The purpose of the role is to support marketing activities with the goal to increase enrollment and retention by developing and implementing marketing strategies and tactics, including email marketing and print and digital marketing collateral. The person in this role will work closely with undergraduate and graduate recruiters at Lyle to support, plan and implement email, communications, advertising, branding, digital marketing, and social media.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and carry out email marketing campaigns targeted at prospective students to enhance enrollment and recruitment efforts. This involves segmenting audiences, designing email templates, and crafting personalized content to engage potential applicants effectively. Regularly analyze campaign performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure high conversion rates.

  • Create compelling and informative content for various marketing channels, including email campaigns, websites, social media, and promotional materials. Responsibilities include researching topics relevant to prospective engineering students, writing engaging and persuasive text, and adapting content tone and style to different platforms and audiences.

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategies using analytics tools. Analyze data to determine campaign success and suggest improvements for future marketing strategies. Tasks include tracking email open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, and making data-driven decisions to optimize future campaigns.

  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic marketing plans aimed at attracting prospective students to SMU Lyle. Work collaboratively with the marketing team and recruitment and enrollment team to identify target audiences, set clear objectives, and define the best tactics to achieve enrollment goals.

  • Support the creation and distribution of print and digital marketing materials related to enrollment and recruitment. This includes brochures, posters, digital ads, social media posts, and other promotional materials that align with the college's branding and recruitment objectives.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Creative Writing, Communications or related field is preferred.

Email marketing experience and knowledge of best practices is strongly preferred.

Experience managing email communications, segmenting audiences, and analyzing campaign effectiveness is also strongly preferred.

Experience creating metrics dashboards and tracking results is preferred.

Editing for clarity and conciseness, persuasive writing and adapting tone for different audiences is required. Experience working in higher education is also preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and manage multiple stakeholder relationships. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate must be able to develop email campaigns and digital or print publications for communications or advertising.

Candidate familiarity with Microsoft Office and email marketing software is strongly preferred.
