Enrollment and Eligibility Specialist - Womens and Children

Description: The Eligibility & Enrollment Specialist Women & Children obtains third party coverage for patients who have no other means of payment. Ensures that all payment/program possibilities are exhausted. This job approves the patient for JPS Connection and other County, State and/or Federal assistance programs.
Receives, reviews, processes and conducts timely follow-up on enrollment packets received to ascertain the potential for eligibility for Charity Care and/or other programs.
Approves patients for Charity Care, refers completed cases to HHSC for Medicaid and other State or Federal programs, or refer difficult accounts to patient advocacy group and/or social services in accordance with established guidelines.
Assists patients in completion of program applications and other paperwork.
Ensures that all program applications submitted to HHCS are complete with supporting documentation needed to make an eligibility determination.
Inputs and updates data in the eligibility determination system and the hospital computer system when changes occur.
Obtains and scans all necessary demographic and clinical information required to properly determine potential program eligibility.
Answers phone calls in a timely manner to ensure abandonment rate is maintained at less than 10%.
Provides support to Eligibility and Enrollment screeners as patient volumes demand.
Maintains a minimal error rate in accordance with established guidelines.
Maintains productivity levels as determined by established standards.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
5 plus years of experience in a medical office; 3 years of experience in enrollment and eligibility.
1 plus years of experience with Federal and State financial assistance programs and third party coverage required.
1 plus years of experience using Microsoft Professional Office Suite to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Associates degree in Health Care, Business or related field of study.
2 plus years of Health and Human Services Commission eligibility experience.
3 plus years of experience in a medical office in a registration or eligibility and enrollment position.
Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
SAVE Immigration Verification Training.
