The Enrollment and Admissions team at Cornell Tech is charged with attracting, selecting, and matriculating the highest caliber of diverse students into the campus' graduate programs. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment and Admissions, we seek an experienced Coordinator to play a critical role in growing and evolving the enrollment management strategy at Cornell Tech. This role serves as a support for the unit across all master's degree programs.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, provide administrative support for the office of Enrollment and Admissions. Primary responsibilities include assisting all prospective student general inquiries and the execution of a seamless admissions review process including application review and interview scheduling.

Assists in coordinating all admissions and student events supported by the offices including daily class visits, campus tours, recruitment, web-based and off-campus event registration, and processing of event registration payments. Serving as the primary liaison for prospective as well as incoming master's degree students which includes scheduling requests of both prospective and current students with staff and faculty. Updates the admissions website as needed and provides data reporting support as required.

Assists with processing of I-20's and ensuring all required documents are submitted. Managing recruitment inventory as well as acceptance packaging and shipping. Assists with recruitment and/or selection of students on an as needed basis.

Position Responsibilities

Admissions- 40%

  • Serve as the point-person for all prospective student general inquiries (admissions inbox, phone, in person). Responsible for all scheduling requests with prospective students for staff and faculty.

  • Work with the Assistant Director to coordinate all phone, virtual and/or in person admissions interviews on and off Cornell Tech campus which includes oversight of occasional seasonal staff to help cover all master's degree program processes.

  • Responsible for a seamless interview experience for all interviewers and interviewees which requires working closely with program faculty, Assistant Director, and/or alumni to conduct interviews and complete all evaluations.

  • Responsible for all recruitment inventory as well as admissions document packaging and shipping.

  • Manage and process all applications including the initial review for completeness, data accuracy and document updates for admission review and support Assistant Directors with application review and selection recommendations as needed.

  • Take initiative on issues, problem solve, and anticipate the needs of applicants aligned with the goals of the office, informing the Assistant Director and Director of Enrollment and Admissions of progress and recommend operational solutions as associated with the admissions process and databases. Frequently collaborate with the Director, Assistant Directors and other Cornell Tech faculty/academic program directors and staff on recommending solutions and carrying out new ideas for necessary improvements.

Student Recruitment and Events- 40%

  • As recruiting is ongoing, this position will be the first point of contact by phone, email and in person for the campus. Enthusiastic about the ability to counsel/advise prospective students on the admissions process, requirements, and timeline.

  • Work closely with Assistant Directors to coordinate and execute all events on and off campus that support recruitment and yield for all master's degree programs. This includes daily class visits, campus tours, prospective and admitted student meetings, virtual/web-based events, conferences, and other small- and large-scale events that support increasing awareness and enrollment for the Cornell Tech campus master's degree offerings. Responsible for the retrieval and metrics associated for each event and report to the Assistant Directors and Director.

  • Coordinate with appropriate student groups and alumni to organize integration with prospective and admitted student events and visits. Cover recruitment and yield events as needed including evenings, weekends, and domestic travel.

Student Services- 15%

  • Coordinate the immigration process for international master's degree students and ensure timely processing of documents and respond to inquiries regarding visa and declaration of finances. Includes compiling all requirements for visas and communication with international students on the visa process.

  • Coordinate closely with the Enrollment and Student Services teams to stay informed and aligned on student issues as it pertains to the enrollment process for all incoming students.

  • Work closely with Student Services to stay aligned with new student communications including the development of a new student ecosystem plan that is inclusive of all degree programs.

Other duties and special projects as assigned- 5%

  • Includes assisting with all logistical needs across teams to help coordinate responsibilities with Cornell Tech and Ithaca departments.

Required Qualification:

Bachelor's degree; and up to 2 years of relevant work experience in student services, admissions or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; superior customer service; demonstrated ability to effectively identify and manage academic and administrative priorities, handle complex, confidential, and sensitive situations; manage data; use software applications such as Excel to manage and report data; proficiency in the use of SLATE our online application systems is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.

Ability to succinctly summarize thoughts, verbally and in writing, to accurately reflect decisions or intent regarding university policies and actions to students. Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills required.

Ability to be flexible and work effectively with a team of professionals in a fast pace, complex organization.

Must have effective listening skills, effectively share knowledge and information; ask questions. Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as well as some domestic travel as necessary.
