Position Summary
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Enrichment Coordinator will have oversight of daily school extracurricular activities, provide for enhanced student-learning opportunities for students of The Catamount School, report to the school's principal, and work collaboratively with Western Carolina University faculty and staff as well as external community members on behalf of The Catamount School.
The Catamount School (TCS) Enrichment Coordinator will be expected to:
Develop and maintain the enrichment schedule
Develop and maintain TCS calendar and manage logistics of enrichment curriculum and opportunities, including outreach and communications with all guests, experts, visitors etc. Provide classroom support, develop enrichment activities, and ensure coverage of all electives and clubs.
Monitor supplies and materials involved in enrichment and communicate order information to admin specialist
Instruct enrichment groups, as needed
Serve as a club coach
Coordinate enrichment volunteers
Serve as the point of contact for all TCS volunteers as well community-based projects and service learning opportunities.
Advise a portion of TCS students, when needed
Assist in supervision of students during enrichment times or other times including morning duty, lunch duty and afternoon duty.
Attend, assist with and serve as point of contact for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
Supervise background checks and maintain records for volunteers
Serve as coordination and manager of field trips to various places on WCU Campus, the community, and beyond. This includes coordination of bus reservations, outreach, logistics and collaboration with teachers on related learning outcomes.
Collaborate with teachers to integrate enrichment curriculum and special learning opportunities within core academic classes.
Serves as the liaison and coordinator for all visitors. TCS commonly hosts special visitors on our campus. The Enrichment Coordinator may be asked to lead or join tours for prospective students and families, community members, WCU faculty or other representatives, and others.
Coordinate school communications such as the weekly newsletter and regular social media posts and campaigns.
Serve as the point-of-contact and assist in the planning of events such as orientation, Visit the Village night, school dances, etc.
Serve on recruitment team which includes events and sharing of information to potential students and families.
The position is time-limited, based upon funding sources other than continuing state budget funds. As such, continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of two years of experience developing, coordinating and facilitating youth programming are required.
Experience in coordinating and facilitating student services/youth programming; able to deliver age appropriate presentations and activities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required in order to promote positive relationships and work effectively with internal and external audiences.
Demonstrates an understanding of needs of those traditionally underrepresented in education.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given for the following: Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, The Arts or related areas. Experience working with middle grades school students and outreach programming in rural education environments preferred.
