Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.

Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US.

Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.

Responsibilities

The candidate will design mechanical parts and subsystems for a motion platform used in the next generation wafer inspection tools. Responsible for the complete design process, including requirements , scheduling , design , prototype testing , BOM structure, . The engineer will be conducting various analysis and simulations, such as thermal, vibration and FEA modeling.

The candidate will also perform solid modeling design using Pro/E and generate detailed drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts. The candidate will drive system integration, prototype testing, and handoff to manufacturing. These tasks will require working with other engineering groups such as Systems engineers and Manufacturing engineers to ensure flawless integration and system level. During prototype testing he/she will have to interact with servo control , firmware and SW engineers to resolve any issues and optimize performance

Qualifications

Knowledge of analysis tools as Matlab or Labview

  • Background in semiconductor design equipment

  • Design experience of X,Y sub micron positioning systems integrated with vision systems

  • Experience with writing requirements and test plans

  • Experience in vibration optimization and design for high stiffness to weight ratio.

  • Solid modeling and structural and frequency analysis FEA, preferably ProE

  • Motion control and servo tunning systems

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal and castings

  • Implementation of high resolution feedback devices as encoders and laser interferometer

  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • Ownership and leadership skills

The LS-SWIFT Division of KLA's Global Products Group provides patterned wafer inspection systems for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Its mission is to deliver market-leading cost of ownership in defect detection for a broad range of applications in the production of semiconductors. Customers from the foundry, logic, memory, automotive, MEMS, advanced packaging and other markets rely upon high-sample wafer inspection information generated by LS-SWIFT products. LS (Laser Scanning) systems enable cost-effective patterned wafer defect detection for the industry's most sophisticated process technologies deployed in leading-edge foundry, logic, DRAM, and NAND fabs. SWIFT (Simultaneous Wafer Inspection at Fast Throughput) systems deliver all-wafer-surface (frontside, backside, and edge) macro inspection that is critical for automotive IC, MEMS, and advanced packaging processes as well as foundry/logic and memory fabs. LS-SWIFT operates from a global footprint that includes the US, Singapore, India and Germany, and serves a worldwide customer base across Asia, Europe and North America. Responsibilities The WIN Division is looking for a mechanical design engineer to enhance our opto-mechanical design team. The selected engineer will be responsible for the development of subassemblies, covering the complete design process from requirements specification to feasibility studies, analysis and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design using ProE, detail drawings, procurement of prototype parts, prototype testing, system integration, and handoff to manufacturing. A particular focus of this position will be analytical and experimental validation and optimization of challenging mechanisms and opto-mechanical designs. Qualifications Required qualifications: * Very strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, and fabrication methods. * Strong analytical problem solving skills in the structural, dynamic, thermal and fluid domains, and involving both first order calculations as well as FEA methods. * Skilled at hands-on lab tests, automated data acquisition, and data analysis. * Experience with solid CAD, preferably ProEngineer. Experience in several of these areas is desirable, but not required: precision mechanics, mechanisms, nano motion actuators, opto-mechanical systems, optics, optics alignment, design of semiconductor equipment or similar instruments, vacuum systems, machine tools, motion controls, electronics, lasers, CFD, Ansys, data acquisition systems such as Labview, measurement instrumentation.
