Description:
Tooling & Molding Engineer is responsible for qualification of the new, and replacement plastic injection mold tools. Support technical assessment of supplier, and supplier selection. Proactively working with the production suppliers to create tools maintenance program (schedule repairs and qualifications in advance, issue detection and correction).

Core responsibilities
Interact with Design Engineers to influence new product designs, design for mold-ability. Plastic part design review to make sure it meets recommended design practices.
Review drawing tolerances to ensure that they meet SPI standards where applicable.
Support creating and submitting CAR
Plastics Injection molded tool design review with molder and toolmaker to insure tool design is capable of producing high quality parts.
PPAP requirements. Write injection molding validation protocols using scientific injection molding principles. Collaborate with engineering, and quality engineering. Follow up on protocols approvals.
Review and summarize molding validation data from suppliers, write validation reports and follow up with the appropriate personnel on approvals.
Review injection molding design of experiments, viscosity study, gate freeze study, CPK, and inspection data, discuss out of spec dimensions with the engineers, tool makers, and molder so that corrective action can be implemented.
Review rubber part design and over mold considerations.
Ability to manage multiple projects, and to develop and maintain tool qualification schedules.
Work with molding suppliers to maintain healthy tool life, the tooling life cycle, to maintain an accurate tooling inventory spreadsheet (MML) in order to proactively plan for tool maintenance and replacement.
Supplier visits for tool validations, tool repair/maintenance requirements, et.
Update of the Master Mold List (tooling inventory)
Work with Suppliers, establish and validate secondary operations processes to provide capable processes.

Additional responsibilities
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma processes and techniques in accordance with GMP's
Independently analyzes moderately-complex technical process problems and make recommendations for resolution is a plus
Independently performs moderately-complex process capability studies and process optimization is a plus
Assist in supplier audits and selection
Mentors external resource/contractors as required
Plastics material selection experience is a plus.
Perform material strength analysis with FEA results and recommend alternate design solutions is a plus.
Perform mold flow and warp analysis to include part fill, sink, weld lines analysis, and optimization of gate location is a plus.
Review assembly design for ease of manufacturability (DFMA) is a plus.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or Plastics Engineering or related field, or, relevant equivalent experience. 5 years in mold design / procurement and plastics processing experience.
Tooling experience with injection molding is required.
Proficiency in Solidworks and understanding of Flow Analysis tools.
Experience with plastic materials, processing and scientific molding practices.
Excellent technical skills including project management, organization, planning and capital budgets relating to mold procurement and verification.
Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving and data analysis methods.
Excellent PC skills with proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), various CAD programs.
Previous experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards and Lean Manufacturing concepts desired.
Experience in an FDA regulated quality environment
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.

Your Responsibilities * CAD proficient with working CAD drawings * Prepare HVAC one-line diagrams * Prepare/ Review HVAC calculations for loads * Thorough knowledge of Mechanical codes * Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements * Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases * Select and schedule equipment * Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application * Coordinates with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc) * Respond to RFI's for the project, and accurately review submittals * Solve installation problems * Apply risk management procedures daily to minimize exp's and client's exposure to problems * Understand MEP/FP work planning and manage design process to the available hours in work plan * Understand proper scope of MEP/FP SD, DD, CD level documents – and deliver appropriate documentation * Work with project coordinator and Clients to meet scheduled project milestones of multiple projects * Manage and deliver revisions (ASI's, etc) and sketches according to proper numbering convention * Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc) * Market Sector – Understands specific engineering requirements for applications within a market sector * Understand and properly provide existing exp details relevant to projects * Be able to direct and mentor Designer level staff on all of their responsibilities on a daily basis * Perform at a 'responsible charge' level; meeting exp's design and quality levels * QA/QC reviews of all calculations by designers, and provide guidance and mentoring * Determine content of drawings and specs for Designers in order to meet the scope of work * Develop and monitor work plans in conjunction with other Project Managers * Review code related items with Designers, and ensure compliance * Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours * Write studies and reports for systems on projects * Writes sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW and HW systems * Understands and applies concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systems * Air side systems- CV, VAV, coil selection, fan selection * Hydronic Systems-hot, chilled condenser, steam * Thorough understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project * Advanced equipment selection and analysis – chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, heap filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumps * Thorough understanding of total energy concepts * Fluent in energy software applications * Fluent in developing life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) for project systems Job Requirements The Skills and Knowledge You Bring * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering * Candidate should have an engineering degree in the field of mechanical engineering with 5+ years of building HVAC design experience * Registered Professional Engineer * Experience designing and marketing in healthcare What EXP Can offer With a mission to understand, innovate, partner and deliver, EXP provides engineering, architecture, design and consulting services to the world's built and natural environments.
