The Eastchester School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire and educate students in grade 8, fostering a love for literature, writing, and critical thinking. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. To develop students' skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, foster communication skills, develop an understanding and appreciation of literature of all types, motivate students to read a wide variety of publications to derive information, comprehend and critically assess the reading materials, and to promote the development of skills in the field of English reading, grammar and syntax.

Requirements:

• NYS certification: English 7-12
• NYSED Fingerprint Clearance*

Employment Terms:

• 10-month, probationary position

• Salary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule; $61,939 - $85,725 step placement contingent upon prior related experience.

• Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law §§305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES). The Commissioner of Education carries out these responsibilities through the New York State Education Department's Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability (OSPRA).
