Level 2 English at Ashburn center Thursday 6:30 - 8:00 pm:

Level 1 English at Ashburn center (depending on enrollment numbers, this class may be offered hybrid) Saturday 10:45 am - 1:15 pm:

Level 5 and 6 English at South Riding center [note that this comes with about 3 hours of tutoring per week on Zoom on weeknights or weekends based on your schedule] Desired experience: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in English, education, or a related field is mandatory and classroom teaching experience is preferred (including online teaching experience); teaching license not required.

We are looking for candidates who have experience teaching English/language arts (essay writing, grammar, reading comprehension, vocabulary) to K-12 students. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING All classes are weekday evenings or weekends.

We compensate based on a paychart, which reflects your experience and the number of students in your class. (Per class pay starts at around $50 per class, which includes teaching, prep, and grading time.) All classes involve grading homework; this will take 2-4 hours per week and is included in the paychart compensation. Level 5 and 6 teachers would instruct in-person once per week at the center AND conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions online (using Zoom). You need to be available at least 2 evenings a week from 6:15-8:45 pm or a 2- hour block (minimum) on Saturday or Sunday. You need to be willing to dedicate about 8 hours a week total to this position (2.5 hours for teaching, 1.5 hours for tutoring, 4 hours for grading). A full curriculum will be provided for each level (including answer keys). The teacher's responsibility is to prepare for each lesson ahead of time, to teach the lesson to a classroom of up to 24 students, to review student essays in a one-on-one tutoring session (for Levels 5 and 6), to grade the papers weekly, and to communicate with parents about their child's progress.

Those hired may be offered summer courses as well. Additional hours are possible if desired. Curie Learning, LLC is an after-school program that focuses on enriching the education of students ages 5–18.

The program is specifically designed to challenge students to meet their academic potential in mathematics, writing, reading comprehension, and vocabulary skills. The curriculum is loosely based on the Common Core and Virginia State Standards for the students’ upcoming grade level in school, with a strong focus on critical thinking and application of skills. The courses of this program include preparation for specialized programs and local prestigious high schools (such as AOS, AET, and TJ). We also provide summer courses including supplementary math/science courses for high school-aged students, supplementary math/English courses for middle and elementary-aged students, and various English, writing, and science day camps.
