English Teacher

Secondary English 7-8 Grade

SUMMARY: The High School is hiring a 7/8 Grade Certified English Teacher. We are seeking a motivated educator that is dedicated to ensuring students reach their academic potential and promote student success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach skills and knowledge through courses in English to secondary students, utilizing course guidelines aligned with Arkansas teaching/ learning standards and other appropriate curriculum pacing guides in teaching individual course content.
Instruct students in proper use, care, and safe handling of chemicals, science equipment and plant and animal life.
Provide for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment, and tools. Make minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment as required.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
Evaluate each student's growth in ELA knowledge and skills.
Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
Supervise students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work day.
Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
Maintain professional competence through professional learning activities provided by the District, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in the evaluation process.
participate and work with peers in a PLC to support fellow staff and increase student retention and academic growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.
