GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The English Language Programs at Framingham State University hires instructors qualified to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in our Academic English Language Programs (AELP) and Community English Language Program (CELP). The AELP includes an Intensive English Program, Bridge to University and Professional Success, and Individualized Study Plans. The CELP includes evening and Saturday courses.
Successful applicants will be part of a growing university-based program that works with students who are international students, immigrants to the local community, and professionals from around the world. It is expected that most courses will be held on campus for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Teaching assignments are part-time contract positions each semester and contract renewal depends on programmatic priorities and enrollment. Classes are held during the day, in the evenings, and on Saturdays.
Successful applicants will become part of a team-approach to teaching that seeks to apply research-based theories of adult second language acquisition. Innovative approaches to effective pedagogy and classroom techniques are encouraged. Instructors will develop course materials, choose appropriate textbooks, and develop content based on the English Language Program's curriculum guide, program objectives, and administrative guidance.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Instructors report to the Executive Director of English Language Programs and Community Education.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Courses are generally taught on the campus of FSU. Tutoring sessions, according to pre-arranged schedules, are taught either on the FSU campus or online.
Requirements:
A master degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or Applied Linguistics is preferred. A master degree or bachelor degree in a related field with coursework in TESOL methodology is also acceptable.
Additional Information:
This posting is for potential part-time, non-benefited, contract positions during the 2024-2025 academic year and may not exceed 18 hours per week. The pay rate is $53.00 per class hour with no additional compensation for preparation time.
Fall courses begin September 4, 2024, spring courses begin January 22, 2025. Summer courses begin May 14 2025.
Classes are taught on the campus of FSU in the daytime (AELP) and evenings and Saturdays (CELP).
