GEO Next Generation High School is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins GEO Prep Academy and GEO Prep Mid-City, delivering a high-quality K-12 learning experience to parents and students in the Baton Rouge community. GEO Next Generation High School is a tuition-free, public charter school that will begin with 9th grade and add a grade each year over the subsequent three years. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced ESL Teacher to join our team. As an ESL Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language to non-native speakers. You will work with students of all ages and backgrounds, from beginners to advanced learners.
REPORTS TO/TERM:
Principal and Administrative Team
This is a full time 10-month position.
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver effective ESL lessons that meet the needs of individual students
Monitor the implementation of the LA Standards via the ELA curriculum and intervention programs through frequent classroom
visits
Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with language proficiency standards
Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and development
Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in ESL instruction

Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, English, Linguistics, or related field, with at least 24 credit hours in content area
Current State of Louisiana Teacher license for grades 6-12
ESL teaching certification (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, etc.) and LA
Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ESL to non-native speakers
Strong classroom management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
Knowledge of language proficiency standards and assessment tools
