As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for working closely with engine test engineers and company leadership to support and direct engine assembly, hardware refurbishment, and engine integration activities for engine test and flight operations. On a daily basis, you will work with the engine test teams to interpret design engineering requirements and create work instructions that direct engine integration and maintenance activities for development and commercial operations. You will also help establish, implement, and maintain system quality processes that will support engine products for test and flight operations. This is a challenging role that puts you in a fast-paced test atmosphere where the company priorities become a reality. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret design engineering requirements to create work order instructions that direct touch-labor technicians in the assembly, maintenance, and installation of engine hardware

  • Establish, implement, and maintain quality system processes that support engine products for test and flight operations

  • Directly support hardware assembly and installation for test operations

  • Interface with Kent and Texas engineers to organize and achieve outlined test objectives

  • Maintain hardware documentation pedigree to support human capable flight

  • Develop overall procedures for hardware assembly while making real-time adjustments as needed to deal with assembly issues

  • Assist test teams with test schedule estimations and execution

  • Use continuous improvement tools to reduce cycle inefficiencies and process waste

  • Support the development of test equipment and tooling to aid in the completion of test objectives

  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in engineering or physics discipline

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering standards, technical requirements, and drawings

  • 1-2 years of direct manufacturing experience or industry related internships

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership

  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the integration, test, and verification phases of the product life-cycle.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Familiarity with CAD applications (ProE preferred)

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing and integration

  • Working knowledge of engines and subcomponents, such as turbopumps, combustion devices, valves, and other fluid components.

  • Experience and familiarity with fluid system component operation, including various types of valves, regulators, accumulators, meters and sensors.

  • Experience with work order creation/management and hardware BOM structures.

  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, hardware assembly processes, and quality control

  • Familiarity with common NDT methods, including visual, dye penetrant, ultrasound, x-ray, CT scan, Eddy Current, XRF scan

  • Familiarity with surface finishes, coatings, seal geometries, materials, and applications.

  • Familiarity with cleanliness levels best practices

  • Hands-on experience with building engine assemblies and subassemblies for test

  • Familiarity with best practices regarding safety, the use of pneumatics, hydraulics, avionics, and hardware cleanliness
