Qualifications

ND -02 (GS-5/8) Basic Education

For ND-03

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-02 (GS-5/8 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer or scientist utilizing basic professional or scientific techniques, procedures, and methods to accomplish developmental assignments.

OR

Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree. OR

Successfully completed a master's or equivalent grad degree.

OR

Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement and I have one year of professional engineering experience that required and was characterized by 1) professional knowledge of engineer, 2) professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineer problems, and 3) positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability. OR

Successfully completed a 5 year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering and have one year of appropriate professional experience that required and was characterized by 1) professional knowledge of engineering, 2) professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineering problems, and 3) positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability.

OR

have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of exp. Percentage of the required education plus percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

For ND-04

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-9/11 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer or scientist researching, interpreting, and carrying out professional or scientific assignments and providing technical input on the planning, design, construction, testing or maintenance of projects.

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (DRAGON GROUND OPERATIONS) SpaceX is currently seeking talented individuals for a position on the Crew Dragon Launch Operations team. You will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions in human spaceflight operations and reusability. You will work on pre-flight vehicle processing, recovery and refurbishment of the next generation Dragon spacecraft, designed to take crew and cargo to low earth orbit. For human flights, you will also work on pre-flight and recovery processing of the crew during their journey to the International Space Station. You will have ownership of your work in all phases of ground operation and will directly interface with astronauts. The role will also provide an opportunity to establish aircraft like operations on Dragon and interface with the design engineers on the next generation SpaceX Mars vehicle. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop, execute, and automate test procedures that evaluate the flight worthiness of the Dragon cargo and crew spacecraft * Develop, build, and maintain electrical ground support equipment for Dragon pre-flight processing and launch operations * Act as a Dragon vehicle controller and test conductor during Dragon integrated system tests, launch operations, and recovery operations * Lead the execution of Dragon cargo and crew spacecraft testing during pre-flight processing and launch campaigns * Collaborate closely with engineering staff from other departments and highly skilled technicians on a daily basis * Work with a government or commercial customer on pre and post-flight preparations for human spaceflight * Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals * Seek out the solutions to technical problems with the local team along with the larger SpaceX workforce BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, or other engineering discipline * 2+ years of experience with complex, multi-disciplinary system assemblies (previous internships, team/personal projects with aerospace vehicles/payloads, automotive, aircraft, or marine assemblies qualify) PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * Experience with analog and digital circuits, fluids, statics and mechanics, sensors and instrumentation, data acquisition, and software * Proficiency in or hands-on experience with one or more of the following: launch vehicle or spacecraft integration; operations in 100,000 class or better clean rooms; test operations with gases/fluids; data acquisition setup and field measurements * Experience working on spacecraft or launch vehicles * Proficiency with programming in Python * Experience writing test plans and test procedures * Acute attention to detail * A positive, upbeat attitude and ability to perform work expectations and thrive in a high-stress environment * Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate clearly and accurately with a wide range of people ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral * Physical effort including standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (15 to 50 lbs.) * Must be comfortable being trained to work around hypergolic propellants (MMH and NTO) and willing to work with hazardous materials * Overall mental fitness with the ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment requiring prolonged mental concentration (under possible extended work hours) * Ability to spend time at sea for days at a time * Occasional travel may be required * Willingness to work outdoors * This position may be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing ITAR REQUIREMENTS: * To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
