Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Philadelphia, PA location.What You'll get to Do: This position supports an advanced manufacturing and design facility at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia, PA working on the next generation of Navy propulsion hardware. Up to 4 separate programs will be at different stages of design/build/test at once, and the candidate could be supporting all simultaneously.Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Represent the hardware engineering organization in resolving non-conformances related to manufacturing.

  • Update engineering design documentation.

  • Support and lead design improvement efforts across multiple program.

  • Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements

  • Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices

  • Identify procurement needs and support fabrication

  • Provide assembly checkout and test support

  • Generate task plans and support proposal efforts

The qualified candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

This role can be filled at either level.Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

  • Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance

  • Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years relevant work experience, or Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 0+ years of experience

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • Experience with machine design

  • Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 5 or more years engineering experience; Masters of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 3 or more years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ASME Y14.100, especially Y14.5 (GD&T)
  • Experience with Creo Parametric or Siemens NX Current active DoD Secret clearance

Salary Range: 74200 - 111400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
