Engineering Technologist II
The Engineering Technologist II position is second level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. The Engineering Technologist II applies technical expertise to solve more complex problems and management skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Employees in the Engineering Technologist Ii position are expected to develop deeper technical skills and the ability to work with an increasing degree of independence.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with some guidance
Conducts engineering and related studies
Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
Maintains accurate records and files
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Operation of advanced metering Infrastructure data collection systems; providing accurate and timely load data for Residential and Commercial billing through automated data retrieval, data verification and troubleshooting of meter/communication platforms and billing data resolution
Advise Telecom Technicians of possible communication issues with nodes/APs/CGRs outage communication issues in their area of responsibility and work with them to correct
Communicate meter communication failures to Service Techs for investigation and resolution
Assist during the meter field troubleshooting process by providing collection system technical support
Monitor system status including application health, communication node/AP/CGR/Relay/Range Extender status, and other system related device performance
Review system generated reports to determine actions required
Verify successful transfer of metering data to Energy Data Management (EDM)/Meter Data Management (MDM) systems at multiple checkpoints throughout the day
Perform meter data exception processing to ensure accurate and timely data is provided to the EDM/MDM systems
Monitor ROF (Remote Order Fulfillment) orders for remote connects/disconnects to prevent errors and truck rolls
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Experience in the utility industry
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Well versed in AMI technology and demonstrated ability to teach others, help others resolve problems and provide support
Experience with Automated Meter Reading and Customer Information Systems
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
Understanding of basic principles of project management
Experience with Advanced Meter Infrastructure & OpenWay platform
Direct experience with AMI operations
