Widener University is seeking an Engineering Technician who will be primarily responsible for supporting instructional and research laboratories, and outreach and recruitment activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):
Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on mechanical or robotic systems or components.
Assemble and reassemble equipment and robots.
Fabricate components or systems, such as housings, jigs, fittings, or fixtures, using metalworking machines.
Test performance of assemblies, using instruments such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, or bridges.
Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, and service records.
Support engineering outreach and recruitment activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Education/Training and Experience Required):
Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, or related field, with 2 years of relevant experience; or associate degree in engineering technology with 5 years of relevant experience.
Able to conduct engineering tests.
Experience working microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
Knowledge of schematics, block diagrams, and electro/mechanical assembly drawings.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision on multiple tasks.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Willing to learn new systems and protocols.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL WORK HOURS:
Usual office, laboratory and classroom conditions; evening and weekend work may be required; long periods of time utilizing computers; occasionally lift in excess of 30 lbs.
