Title: Engineering - Engineering Technician I

Position Description/Responsibilities:

Equipment and facilities maintenance, equipment calibration and repair. Exercises engineering protocols. Assists in activities related to product design, development, and production. Process document changes. Exhibits knowledge of operations in assigned work area. Projects a positive example for others to follow in the workplace. Freedom to act, under close supervision, in semi-structured assignments that normally require adherence to defined procedures and/or specific, detailed instructions with limited originality. Solves problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Position Authority

This position has the freedom to act under moderate supervision, in semi-structured assignments to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy. Reviews progress and evaluates results. Reviews progress with management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeps manufacturing equipment and devices operational, keeps systems and building ready for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, coordinating and overseeing building contractors, maintaining maintenance records, following policies and procedures, completing repairs and installing replacement parts, and reporting needed changes.

  • Generate, review and modify PM procedures, Work Instructions, spare part requests, purchase requisitions, Facility Work Orders, etc. Assist Manufacturing staff in monitoring operating equipment on a daily basis, troubleshooting problems and inefficiencies and recommending possible solutions.

  • Perform testing per engineering protocols, recording equipment used and results achieved in verification test reports.

  • Design, build, test, and document simple manufacturing test fixtures and assembly aids. Work with manufacturing and engineering to develop assembly and test instructions.

  • Create manufacturing prototypes. Work with management to troubleshoot process issues and provide suggestions of process improvements.

  • Provides technical assistance to production by answering questions when needed. Interfaces with production teams to improve assembly process.

  • Process Document changes per QMS.

  • Performs research for new product components, tools, and equipment, as required.

  • Assists Quality Assurance with incident/problem investigations and reviews.

  • Assist with and participate in technical engineering projects

  • Participate effectively in cross organization projects and team tasks.

  • Identifies areas for process improvement and makes recommendations to management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Thorough understanding of equipment operation and equipment maintenance requirements.

  • Must be able to use common hand and power tools, shop equipment, meters, and test equipment for troubleshooting and repair of equipment.

  • Detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment in problem solving.

  • Able to develop technical solutions to address problems while minimizing cost and impact on schedule.

  • Reads and comprehends simple specifications, plans, and shop drawings.

  • Able to communicate problems to effect corrective action.

  • Maintains a positive attitude with respect to changes in processes and methods.

  • Maintains high standards of quality.

  • Possesses written and oral communications skills sufficient to speak clearly and distinctly, write reports, and read work-related instructions, rules, and procedures.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously

Qualifications

Preferred 2-year associate degree in engineering technology or related technical field. Preferred working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Solidworks. Working knowledge of quality system requirements. Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, Outlook required. Experience working in a production facility or cleanroom a plus. Knowledge and experience with equipment maintenance software a plus.
