Summary

About the Position: Ice Harbor Project is a multi-purpose hydropower project, with missions that include operation and maintenance of the facility for flood control, hydroelectric power generation, navigation locks, fish facility, recreation and natural resources management.

Pasco, WA is located in southeastern Washington. It is part of what is known as the Tri-Cities, consisting of Richland, Kennewick and Pasco.

Responsibilities

Updates project drawings to reflect as-built conditions resulting from actual construction, installation or modification of a large variety of project features ranging from architectural modifications to changes in complex equipment controls.
Investigates and corrects drawing discrepancies.
Serves as fund control officer for the various sections, providing explanations and guidance on procedures for preparation of documents, i.e., CEFMS documents such as supply requisition documents.
Maintains an up-to-date project drawing file, index system, and microfilm retrieval system.
Prepares complete drawings including plans, schematics, details and sections for construction of modification to structures, utilities, recreation facilities, and mechanical and electrical equipment as found on a major hydroelectric power project.
Prepares final drawings using standard drafting techniques and/or CADD system.
Monitors, records, and interprets on a prescribed schedule all project structural instrumentation.

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management, or related field of study.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

GS-08: Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes experience in developing and presenting written technical and non-technical information to document findings and recommendations, and experience using Computer Aided Drawing programs to create basic drawings of equipment and facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management, or related field of study.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

GS-09: Requires one or more years of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience using an electronic document management system to catalog, file, and organize engineering documents, developing and presenting written technical and non-technical information to document findings and recommendations, and using Computer Aided Drawing programs to create and update drawings of hydroelectric equipment and facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR

Education: A Master's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management, or related field of study or two full years of graduate level education leading to such a degree.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

VIEW JOBS 12/1/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-01T00:00 JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for diagnosis and repair of all heavy equipment (including removing, repairing, assembling, installing) and performs failure analysis of all Caterpillar equipment including engines, hydraulics, and transmissions. Depending on the level of skill, technicians perform jobs that range from basic and preventative maintenance and fluid changes to independent diagnosis and repair, and mentoring of entry level technicians. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Troubleshoots and tests various machine systems, compares test results to specifications and determines if the system is working as designed. Walks around machinery to inspect. Operates machinery to locate problem. Determines what services are required to repair the machine and performs failure analysis. Asks for assistance as needed in failure analysis and diagnosing problems for quality control. * Performs maintenance and repairs as assigned by Team Supervisor. * Gives diagnosis to Customer Service Representative (CSR). Works with CSR to achieve an appropriate estimate. * Gathers parts needed for repair, using parts book to accurately determine correct parts required for the job. Communicates required repair parts to Parts Sales Consultant. * Uses technician tools, including but not limited to: service manuals, operations manuals, computer programs and resources and parts books effectively to address technical issues. * Performs all required tasks in accordance with printed procedures. * Requests another technician to conduct quality control review of repaired machine. * Writes service report for every machine repair in detail. Prints off hardcopy of service report with work orders and saves to server. * Assists other technicians as needed on repairs. * Handles all customer inquiries in a prompt and professional manner. * Adheres to all customer care standards. * Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Adheres to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards. * May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States' strategic programs, projects, and initiatives. * Work within and promotes corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization. * Performs other duties as assigned.
