The Engineering Technician will track and perform lap-shear tests and analysis on all inbound batches of Epoxy for Railroad Insulated Joint Production. Includes tracking lots, building of test coupons for testing, performing lap-shear tests, and subsequent clean-up of Jigs, fixtures and coupons for re-testing.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain an Epoxy Tracking system and log to track all Epoxy received from Supplier

  • Build coupons for testing utilizing jigs and fixtures

  • Perform Lap-Shear Testing. This includes testing of coupons as well as managing Test Reporting system and tracking of all results within Epoxy Tracking system

  • Manage clean-up and reuse of all fixturing and coupons for the test system

  • Maintain all required calibrations, verifications and general cleaning and 5S of the lab and associated equipment

  • Perform other related inspections and tests, as required (when time allows from Epoxy Testing)

Minimum Qualifications:

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma required; trade school or associate degree preferred

  • 3-5 years prior general quality inspection or testing experience

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and time management skills

  • Strong computer experience including experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Other Requirements:

  • A high degree of reliability, professionalism and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are critical attributes for this position

Technical writing skills for work report submissions strongly desired

  • Current Driver's License

  • Travel up to 15%, domestic only

  • Ability to lift to 100 pounds
