To help create the future of surgery, we are building a best-in-class team and are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician.This role is a tremendous opportunity to work on a surgical robotic platform that will require creative and innovative approaches to problem solving while interfacing with Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing engineers all contributing to the project. Individuals will be engaged in the design and documentation of test fixtures, cabling and electrical and electro-mechanical subassemblies. This is a role that will appeal to individuals who will be hands-on as they will build, assemble, test and characterize electronic prototype assemblies, breadboard circuit assemblies, printed circuit assemblies, cable assemblies, subsystems of the robotic platform.

Professional Experience/Background to be successful in this role:

  • 2 year technical degree or equivalent experience/training

  • 3-5 plus years experience as an engineering test technician for medical devices or complex electromechanical capital equipment

  • Ability to understand detailed schematics, system interconnect diagrams, and test procedures

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist engineers to build, assemble, test and characterize electronic prototype assemblies, breadboard circuit assemblies, printed circuit assemblies, cable assemblies, subsystems of the robotic platform

  • Troubleshoot failures to module or component level, and clearly document/communicate issues to engineers

  • Perform maintenance and repairs of equipment and fixtures

Expected Outcomes:

  • 3 months: knowledgeable of test fixture design and documentation release process
  • 6-12 months: successful fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of custom test fixtures under the guidance of test engineers

Hardware Test Engineers in the lab work closely with product teams and other cross-functional teams to highlight failures which drive corrective actions within the products and company. As a Hardware Test Engineer, you will work closely with the engineering team in support of Reliability, R&D, product development, and production. You will use state of the art equipment and techniques to test the reliability of products and materials. Lab Hours: Candidates must be able to work within these hours for coverage: 9:30AM to 6:00PM Top 3 Daily Responsibilities: 1. Follow established reliability test procedures and perform various environmental and mechanical reliability testing, photographic documentation of test setup and results, and report generation. 2. Set up and run test equipment (Instron tensile/compression system, Optical/digital microscope, Environmental chambers, Corrosion chambers) 3. Record, analyze, and report test results using spreadsheets and charts.
