Northern Technologies, LLC (NTI); a rapidly growing geotechnical consulting and materials testing firm, has a position for a full-time Engineering Technician to join our team in Minot, ND starting immediately. The Engineering Technician is responsible for the testing of construction materials (soil, concrete, bituminous, aggregates, mortar and masonry units, etc.) as contracted for by our clients.
The successful candidate for this position will be encouraged to expand their skill sets and certifications through company training and mentoring and currently possess the following qualifications and experience:

Performs field and laboratory tests on soil, concrete, bituminous, aggregates, mortar and masonry units, structural steel welding and bolted connections as well as other construction materials.
Maintains orderly and timely processing of project paperwork including completion of field or laboratory test or observation sheets, and log book and other necessary requirements for nuclear gauge operation.
Communicates all job observations, passing or failing results of testing, and any other information to project manager.
Maintains log of laboratory inventory and calibration work
Seeks assistance as needed, and follows guidelines and procedures for testing to ensure all results are accurate.
Keeps vehicles clean, maintained, and organized. Keeps vehicle and gas logs up-to-date.
Represents NTI in a professional manner through communication and appearance on jobsites.

Interest in materials testing; some hands on experience preferred.
Ability to read technical procedures, analyze, and interpret gauges.
Ability to write and log results of testing processes.
Excellent verbal communications skills for working with contractors and internal staff.
Strong aptitude for mathematics a plus.
Ability to solve practical problems.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, diagrammed, or scheduled form.
Possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; basic computer knowledge to work on new programs, log results and enter time and job data.
Education, Licensure, and Certifications
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; ACI Level I Field Technician or must obtain within first 6 months of hire; Nuclear Density Gauge Certification or ability to obtain within first 6 months of hire.
Preferred: Associates degree in Civil Engineering; ICC Certifications; DOT Certifications
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level can be moderate to loud on jobsites and moderate when working in the lab. At least 50% of the work will be performed outdoors where individual will be subject to extreme heat and cold, snow and rain.
