Job Description: The Engineering Technician III will prepare, modify and maintain plans, designs, drawings, and schematics for components and C5ISR systems.

Perform drafting tasks typically using computer equipment. Work from sketches, notes, and verbal instructions. Use computer-aided design (CAD) systems to prepare layouts and drawings.

May perform site surveys and incorporate them into CAD files. May work with engineers in specific disciplines, which may require some knowledge of that discipline. Perform complex tasks requiring the consideration of multiple variables to determine proper course of action.

Receive general guidance/supervision but normally work independently on mastered tasks. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Select or adapt standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. Receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; perform recurring work independently.

Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. Perform at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as: Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.

Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; processes data, identifying errors or inconsistencies; selects methods of data presentation. Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts. Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications. Use judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

Required Skills

Requires high school diploma plus and 5-7 years of experience in a related field performing engineering design; two year Associate of Science degree in Drafting and Design desirable.

Experience with SPAWAR Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH), v4.0 requirements and Appendix Q drafting packages for Installation Design Plans and As-Built drawings.

Experience with commercial industry drafting and design standards/concepts.

Familiar with US NAVY ONE-Net design and network topology concepts.

Applicants must have Active Secret Clearance.

Applicants must successfully undergo a background investigation

This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens

Travel up to 10% to CONUS and OCONUS locations may be required

DepartmentOur services in the Defense business unit support all branches of the U.S. military and the intelligence community. Our teams provide a variety of support services related to the maintenance and life cycle sustainment of US Navy, US Coast Guard and Customs and Border Patrol fielded C5I systems.
