Position: Engineering Technician III
Nature of Role: The Engineering Technician III will support the Sensors and SONAR Systems Department of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport which is responsible for a full spectrum of engineering and research efforts pertaining to Sensors, SONAR, Undersea Warfare and Autonomous Vehicles.
Candidate will support Hull and Sensor Systems including hull mounted arrays, transducers, hydrophones, inboard electronics, and associated cabling. The candidate will provide system troubleshooting, diagnosis and repairs for in-service components and systems. They will install and service acoustic systems on Naval platforms, the work will be performed in a lab and at Navy shipyards on board submarines.
Responsibilities:
Testing, troubleshooting and repair of transducers
Installation of mechanical foundations, transducers and cabling on board US submarines
Fabricating and designing cable harnesses and wire assemblies
Developing installation kits for use by system installers for product installation
Documenting and reporting work performed
Maintaining, fabricating, and testing in-service hardware.
Integrating the in-service hardware into laboratory and shipboard environments.
Updating and maintaining documentation
Analyzing hardware faults and generating alternative solutions and producing recommended courses of action.
Travel required for system installation
Requirements:
Education: Technical School or 2 to 3 years of technical work experience.
Candidate will be required to lift, pull or carry items of approximate weight of 40 LBS in confined spaces including vertical ladders.
This position may require travel with minimal notice.
Candidate must possess good communication and documentation skills, be disciplined, possess a self-motivated work ethic, and have the ability to thrive within a team environment.
Individual must be able to obtain a government security clearance to the SECRET level

Sonar Systems
Computer hardware
Microsoft Office
LINUX and/or Windows operating system
Ability to read engineering drawings
