Engineering Technician I

Position will function as an Engineering Technician I in Division 1, District 3 Construction office in Williamston, North Carolina located in Martin County. Positions in this class perform technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in areas such as construction, material testing, design, surveys, and/or program and regulatory compliance. Work may include inspection for compliance and/or code, collection and analysis of field data, testing of materials, review, modification, and/or design of plans, analysis of engineering related data, products and/or functions or inputting of specific project information into HiCams system including, but not limited to sampling material received including bill of materials, pay record quantities including ticket items, densities including both soil and asphalt, and verifying final estimate quantities and data with respect to work accomplished on construction projects. Employee must have the ability to legally operate a state vehicle.  Safety Toe shoes are required.

• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision

• Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems

• Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments

• Experience in customer service related to resolving problems that involves explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups

• Computer experience including office software and drafting software

Associate degree in Civil Engineering technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
