Assists in conducting development/site inspections to ensure compliance with city regulations. Inspects the work of contractors to ensure compliance with city specifications.

Assists in the operations of a survey crew; gathers information and sets up related files. Uses computer hardware and software to produce documents, create and input spreadsheets, prepare databases and file electronic documents. Assists in conducting topographic, construction, traffic and inventory surveys.

Compiles data of curb and sidewalk removal, replacement or repairs. Operates AutoCAD to prepare survey plans, maps and drawings. Operates GIS system to create and retrieve data and produce maps and diagrams.

Verifies field data using algebra, trigonometry and geometry calculations. Assists in the development and review of plans and specifications for city related projects. Assists with engineering bid proposals. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with the completion of a high school diploma or GED.

Finalists for this position will be required to test for Word 2010, Excel 2010 and Customer Service Scenarios. The Human Resources Department will contact finalists to schedule tests. You must complete the required testing by the testing deadline or your application will be deemed incomplete.

Miscellaneous:

May under-fill as an Engineering Technician II, knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with the completion of a high school diploma or GED. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for 4 years; or a certification or an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field and two years of experience. Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Finalists for this position will be required to test for Word 2010, Excel 2010 and the Team Leader Simulator. The Human Resources Department will contact finalists to schedule their Word and Excel tests. The hiring manager will set the date for the Team Leader Simulator as that must be administered on site.
