Elmet Technologies LLC is a specialty metals business with over 85 years of molybdenum and tungsten production experience at its 220,000 square foot manufacturing operation in Lewiston, Maine. At this site, Elmet produces molybdenum and tungsten powders from chemical precursors and presses and sinters the powders into final parts or into ingots for rolling or swaging to fully dense mill products, including plate, sheet, foil, rod, and wire. Controls and oversees tests for experimental models under operating conditions for such purposes as development, standardization, and feasibility of design. Supports metalworking projects through qualification and acceptance.
Studies tests, samples, production parts, drawings, and quality and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed.
Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
Assists area installations and integrations of new equipment, processes and methodologies.
Takes direction from engineering, and works with supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information, and may advise about enhancements needed for manufacturing improvements.
Able to lead peers via hands-on and verbal instruction for basic, as well as complex metalworking practices and requirements to produce tests, prototypes, and legacy quality parts.
Learns, grows, and self develops to become a go-to-person as part of an outstanding team in this industry.
2-year secondary school degree in a technical field or equivalent related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Due to Department of Defense contract work must meet ITAR hiring requirements (US citizen, permanent resident or refugee/asylee).
Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
Strong planning and time management skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude, very conscientious and have great attention to detail.
Ability to use basic hand measuring tools, as well as precision measuring equipment.
Able to evaluate equipment schematics for both a clear understanding of finished product and construction requirements.
Good oral, written and computer skills. Working knowledge of document control.
Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to generate reports showing evaluating, measuring, solution generation and outcomes.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Routinely operates/uses equipment, machines, and tools requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
Must be able to speak, hear and see.
Must be able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time or for an entire work shift
Routinely communicates face-to-face with good approachability.
Must be able to walk a 1/4 mile without difficulty, bend, reach and lift 10lbs to shoulder height.
Routinely performs duties in the production floor environment, which may include loud noise, variable temperatures, and dust.
Must be able to wear protective gear.
