Engineering Technician positions perform a broad range of duties involving technical engineering work in support of professional engineers.
Duties include but are not limited to drafting, engineering calculations, surveying, materials/soils testing, construction inspection, roadway design, right-of-way engineering, planning, permitting and inspection, water rights appropriation and land acquisition in support of civil or related professional engineering work.
Duties require the application of technical engineering skills, methods, and practices in compiling technical data, drafting, computers, computer aided software, operating specialized equipment, and preparing engineering related documents.
Under general supervision incumbents perform one or more of the duties described in the series concept at the journey level, perform technical engineering work by applying a variety of methods and practices in compiling technical data, using computer aided software, operating specialized equipment and preparing technical engineering documents.
This position will be located at the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Winnemucca.
Incumbent will work in the field performing required inspections, testing, and surveying; complete field and office work to assure contractor's work is documented per the specifications and quantities for prompt contractor payment.

The incumbent will manage the water development program in Northern Nevada to expand usable habitats and improve populations of game and nongame wildlife by means of water development, maintenance, and improvement. Job duties include, but are not limited to: planning and coordination, gaining clearances from land managers/owners, managing budgets, purchasing equipment and materials, maintaining equipment, maintaining water developments, installation of new developments, supervising crew and participating on crew as a team member, managing water development database and maintenance log, as well as coordinating and facilitating volunteer projects with conservation organizations. To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify: In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field and three years of professional wildlife management experience such as conducting research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; development and implementation of project proposals for fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects; OR two years of experience as a Biologist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions in remote and/or primitive locations. Working on occasional nights and/or weekends may be required. Some positions require a valid State of Nevada Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of appointment. Special Requirements Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. Statewide travel and outdoor work is required.
