Requisition Summary
The Hoods & Outerbody team is looking for a collaborative and driven engineering supervisor that will manage, direct, and evaluate the work of assigned personnel.
The team is responsible for designing systems that include hoods, grilles, bumpers, fairings, and mirrors across the Heavy and Medium Duty product portfolio.
The scope of work includes concept development, final design development, validation planning, testing support and launching designs into production.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Lead the development of Hood & Outerbody systems through the entire product development process from Project Definition to Product Launch.
Supervise team members to ensure their work is error free and up to design standards.
Design-to-cost and deliver within schedule.
Provide feedback and guidance to team members to improve their performance.
Prepare engineering activity status reports and other detailed reporting as directed.
Coordinate regularly during the development process with cross-functional groups including Reliability, Product Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and PACCAR Parts.
Effectively manage relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure information flows smoothly and issues are proactively addressed.
Act in a professional manner in all contacts with external and internal customers.
Some travel may be required.
Skills / Competencies
Supervisory or management experience is preferred
7+ years of design engineering experience is preferred
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively
Ability to handle multiple tasks, learn on the fly, and adapt to change
Professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities
Proactive approach to reconciling issues and reaching consensus
Experience with a Phase Gate development process
Proficient in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools
Strong overall knowledge of PACCAR vehicles
Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck components and systems is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Thorough knowledge and experience with CREO and Windchill (or similar) is preferred
Ability to apply knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), material properties, and manufacturing processes to improve designs
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required
Master's Degree in Business Administration is preferred
Professional Engineering License is preferred
