The Engineering Specialist is responsible for design, develop, test, complete technical documentation, and launching new power conversion products within the eMobility product lines. In this role, you will take complete charge of the electronics from design through launch. Uses CAD and simulation tools to design and test product integrity in order to facilitate rapid deployment. Troubleshoot digital and analog electronic circuits in electronic assemblies. Lead and participate in requirements testing and cost estimation, design reviews and other team development processes. Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies, materials and tools, and disseminates relevant developments to other members of the technical staff.

In this function you will:
Guide the development and generation of product requirements specification based on Voice of Customer (VOC) inputs.
Follow the product spec, and in coordination with the customer(s), design and development new and innovative products.
Employ appropriate DFSS tools, performs product-level testing during developments.
Complete and review appropriate technical documentation: Schematics, BOMs, DFMEA, Theory of Ops, etc.
Develop and launch new products following the stage-gate process (i.e., PROLaunch).
Provide supervision and support to internal and external design resources when appropriate (e.g. PCB designer, other engineers, software development, test laboratories).
Develop test strategies and plans for both design validation and production test in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Guide the engineering activities for electronic circuit development in core R&D team.
Investigate and test new components and technologies and evaluate their appropriate use within our product lines.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 7 years of experience with new product development supporting electrical and electromechanical systems.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
No relocation benefit is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of Southfield, MI or Tualatin, OR. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Bachelors or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Electronic hardware design-power electronics and switch-mode power supplies for vehicle electric environments, battery charging and management systems, design strategies for EMC, etc.
Experience with electric and hybrid electric vehicle systems a plus.
Experience designing and developing electric motor drive systems, DC, 3-phase AC, PM, SR, FW motors a plus.
Experience with C and embedded programming.
Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
Good understanding of commercial vehicle markets and the environmental requirements and related qualification testing required.
