Red Hat's Quality Engineering is looking for an intern to join us as an engineer for the OpenShift Virtualization product. We are looking for an intern with development capabilities, Linux/Unix skills and experience with virtualization, containers, and testing infrastructure. In this role, you will serve as an intern/individual contributor on the Infrastructure team, learning from our quality and development engineers and increasing your skills while working closely with the rest of the team in agile methodology. Collaboration is key at Red Hat and you will have the opportunity to influence the future of our technology along with many other developers in the open source community. What you will do

  • Participate in relevant tasks related to the OpenShift Virtualization product infrastructure component

  • Enhance and extend our automation and testing infrastructure

  • Facilitate product releases

What you will bring

  • Student of computer science or software engineering, or equivalent work experience

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Background in Python, and shell scripting languages

  • Basic knowledge of the Linux operating system

  • Ability to work with a team and use available resources to create innovative solutions

  • Experience with cloud, networking, or storage technologies is a plus

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting existing electronic analog &amp; digital hardware for fire alarm products. This engineering support may include work on component sourcing, cost reduction efforts, investigation and resolution of post-launch product issues, and redesign work for product improvements or component obsolescence. Work may include embedded system designs, switching power supplies, front panel user interfaces, audio amplifiers, peer-to-peer networking, linear power supplies, sensors and detectors, and fiber optics.
