Role Definition

Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division has an opening for an experienced design engineer as an Engineering Project Team Leader in the Fuel Systems solenoid team. In this role located in Mossville IL, you would join a team of engineers developing and supporting electromagnetic solenoids for Caterpillar fuel injectors and pumps. The position works at the intersection between electrical and mechanical engineering and offers a breadth of technical & team leadership opportunities: supplier collaboration, technical problem-solving, hands-on testing, design control ownership, quality issue resolution, NTI/NPI program leadership, design validation, manufacturing implementation, and leadership of complex projects & teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify and resolve design, manufacturing, and quality issues

  • Develop, validate, and implement design changes

  • Communicate project status with stakeholders and participating functional areas

  • Act as design control owner, resolving any engineering-related questions related to products in the design control

  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

  • Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.

  • Coordinating resources across the businesses with sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain and manufacturing.

  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

  • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

Degree Requirement

Degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum required

Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Product Design and Development: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
