The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leadership of the capital project team and processes, including master planning, annual forecasting, project spend tracking and updates to site leadership. Interacts with management and site "customer" groups to establish and define requirements for assigned facility, utility, packaging, and manufacturing projects.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

General Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and coaching to site and contract capital project managers and technical support staff.

  • Develops Capital and Expense budget requests for future projects during annual budget cycle.

  • Manages the site capital plan to align with site needs and master plan.

  • Ensures project managers and all projects follow the site defined Project Management processes.

  • Maintains frequent communication and conducts regularly scheduled meetings with site leadership and project stakeholders.

  • Promotes the culture of continuous improvement within the project engineering team.

  • Improves processes through use of six sigma tools and principles.

  • Interfaces with Zoetis GMS Capital Governance Team to ensure project compliance with applicable capital and quality standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors or Masters level degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, preferred) with 5 - 10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Possess good understanding of pharmaceutical operations along with technical proficiency in capital project engineering.

  • Certificates, Licenses or Registrations: PMP Certification or PE License preferred

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Motivated, self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to values-based leadership and achieving objectives in a manner that is supportive of the Zoetis Core Beliefs.

  • Demonstrated leadership, management and technical capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the Zoetis organization.

VIEW JOBS 9/21/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-12-20T00:00 ROLE SUMMARY In this role, this colleague will play a key role as business partner with Operations to lead and manage several aspects of a high-critical capital project (Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP)) at the Portage, Michigan, Manufacturing Site (Pfizer's largest US manufacturing facility). The successful candidate will lead the project mechanical engineering team focused on production & facility HVAC, qualified & non-qualified utilities, production suite , verification, and support for initial facility start-up and product validation.environmental monitoring, and air handler control systems. Project aspects include design, procurement, implementation In July of 2018, Pfizer announced an increase in commitment to U.S. manufacturing with a $465 million investment to build one of the most technically advanced sterile injectable pharmaceutical production facilities in the world, in Portage, Michigan. This U.S. investment will strengthen Pfizer's capability to produce and supply critical, life-saving injectable medicines for patients around the world. This role will largely be responsible for specific mechanical engineering aspects for the new Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP) manufacturing facility. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities for the Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP) project: * Lead a multi-disciplinary team focused on GMP facility mechanical systems (HVAC, environmental monitoring, air handler control systems, qualified & non-qualified utility). * Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for GMP HVAC, qualified & non-qualified utility, facility environmental monitoring and air handler control system design, implementation, verification, and start-up. * Effectively interact with leadership and partner with Operations to establish priorities and define requirements for the portfolio of projects within the assigned area. * Ensure our aseptic drug product capital investments use the best technology, have the best outcomes for our business, and align with contemporary standards. * Provide or arrange for development of complete design documentation for assigned projects. Select, manage and coordinate the efforts of design consultants and firms as appropriate. Develop "Request for Proposal" documents for design services, construction services and major equipment items as appropriate. * Administer, resolve, and control all design, construction, contractual and financial aspects of the project. * Ensure that all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements are met on assigned projects. * Maintain technical skills in the latest techniques for project management and aseptic processing technology as applied to facilities and equipment design, construction and plant operation. * Assist project sponsors with the preparation and submittal of Capital Project Appropriation requests (CPAs). CPAs to include project descriptions, justifications, scope definitions, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, analyses of alternatives and other required information. This person must have the ability to effectively balance a portfolio of up to 40 projects ranging from $1-million to $100-million. While this role primarily supports the Portage , Michigan manufacturing site, there are opportunities to interface with and support Capital Project Engineering on a global scale. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS * Education: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent. * Experience: Minimum of 9 years of engineering and/or project management experience. * Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Mechanical Engineering experience in a highly regulated industry (examples: Nuclear, Semi-Conductor, Pharmaceutical) * Minimal supervision; ability to work independently and thrive in ambiguity; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously * Must be a self-starter; possess a OnePfizer mindset and champion of OWN IT!
