The Undersea Systems Office of the Applied Research Laboratory is in need of an Engineering Project Manager to assist with the planning and execution of several large multi-year programs. This position requires the successful candidate to work with program managers, control account managers, financial staff, scientists and engineers to plan and execute Department of Defense programs.

Duties will include producing project schedules, tracking critical paths, monitoring the progress of technical work, working with program managers and control account managers to identify and resolve issues, and creating input for the generation of routine project reports. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Bachelor's degree in Business, Management of Accounting that is well supported with technical work highly preferred.

Limited travel will be required. Candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. U.S.

Citizenship required. Other requirements are experience with project planning, estimation, scheduling, financial tracking, and project reporting for medium to large-size projects; strong written and verbal communication skills; and ability to work effectively with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders. This is a one year, fixed-term renewable appointment.

This individual will oversee the 6-year NSF Frontier End-to-end Trustworthiness of Machine-Learning Systems grant. This project will establish the Center for Trustworthy Machine Learning (CTML), a large-scale, multi- institution, multi-disciplinary effort whose goal is to develop a rigorous understanding of the vulnerabilities inherent to machine learning, and to develop the tools, metrics, and methods to mitigate them. The project manager will contribute to the strategic direction of the Center, perform day-to-day management of the center (including organizing and overseeing research), participate in educational events, communicate with many individuals and organizations, and organizes events. They will be critical in the project management, financial planning, problem-resolution, research and reporting. This includes development of project infrastructure and workflow processes, budget management, maintenance of collaborative relationships across multiple levels of the organization and all external partners and ensuring project compliance. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
