About the Job
Cyngn is scaling its team to deliver on its pragmatic product vision into customers' sites as we take on more ambitious deployments. We need more brain and execution power on our team to bring the state of the art to practical applications. As a Engineering Program Manager you will work closely with our autonomy team leads to drive, motivate cross functional teams to deliver the product as per the agreed upon requirements and cross functionally manage other internal team members. As a "human systems engineering specialist" you will report to the Director of Programs and Product.
For this role, you will have a strong systems level perspective and design background combined with the ability to communicate both at executive level and quickly deep dive into technical details when called upon. You will be accountable for tracking schedules, budgets and interdependencies between different product sub-systems and their respective programs.
Our ideal candidate has an extensive background in program management, project management, risk management and robotic-system-development. You are passionate about developing and delivering great programs on time and budget. You also enjoy working with people: directing, coaching, and leading project management teams while working cross-functionally across the company. You are a rigorous process creator for streamlining delivery and execution, balancing when corners can be cut and processes are slowing us down.
To assist in the overall development of system design development and verification, as an Engineering Program Manager, you will identify development activities, review, and update plans as development evolves. Since we are rapidly scaling and moving company, you will be wearing many hats - the job will range from facilitating system design of hardware and software in the trenches with the engineering teams all the way to product and program management. You will be working alongside an experienced and ambitious cross-functional teams of robotics and autonomy engineers to help you along the way. You'd follow and improve the framework for development producing sub-system technical requirements, concept architecture and analysis to ensure technical requirements are documented, reviewed, and approved through NPD stage gate process. You will evaluate engineering output for conformance to system design requirements and be responsible for verifying design and validation under defined operating conditions.
Drive planning and execution of projects and programs ensuring compliance to key deliverables.
Lead cross functional project and program meetings
Lead milestone reviews
Present project status to the executive team
Develop a comprehensive view and understanding of the entire product from a technical perspective to ensure that each subsystem within the product functions well together
Take top-level product requirements and break them down into subsystem component requirements for all engineering teams together with the system engineering group
Work alongside engineering team leads and system engineering to participate in high level architecture and planning discussions
Enhance, Facilitate and Participate in Cyngn Product Development Framework stage gates "connecting the wires".
Develop and maintain architecture and compliance documentation
Develop and control deadlines, budgets and operating plans for existing and future programs within the autonomy stack
Apply change, risk and resource management to the existing and future programs within the autonomy stack
Develop cross-project monitoring activities within the EPM group.

BASc. or Graduate degree in Systems, Aerospace engineering or related field
Certification in project or program management through PMI or equivalent
7+ years of experience with systems design background for complex robotic systems
+5 years experience working with robotics and/or industrial automation (including internships and research assistance)
Exceptional time management skills with a proven track record of influencing across an organization and leading cross-functionally to deliver on project goals
Experience in writing Product and technical requirement documents, conducting design and test readiness reviews.
Proven track record of product delivery/shipping/deployment to clients
Good understanding of robotics systems including sensors, mechanical and software systems
Exemplary internal motivation to impact the organization without explicit direction from upper management
Strong communication, presentation and leadership skills
Strong background in budgeting, risk management and continuous improvement
Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and risk, change management principles.
Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Project management tools
