The Surface DVSE team is seeking a talented DVE lead with a strong systems and RF background. Job responsibilities will encompass characterize and drive improvements on the RF system of new Surface platforms, including radiated performance, driver reliability and end-to-end functionality and performance. This will include working and with external partners to deliver high quality products to market. You need to be a team player who works well in a collaborative environment with peers in other development disciplines, Development and Program Management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software or hardware development related fields
  • BS or higher in Engineering, Physics or Math

Additional Qualifications:

  • RF design or validation, and architecture experience

  • A sound track-record of shipping products and having been through at least two development cycles

  • Ability to quickly ramp-up on complex and unfamiliar platforms

Desired experience:

  • Experience with RF and associated FW and system software development, especially at a system architectural level

  • Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven

  • High tolerance to ambiguity and ability make progress in the face of it

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions (PM, Hardware Engineers, Compliance, etc.)

  • Some domestic and international travel may be necessary.

You will lead a team of experts in Design for Excellence (DFx) methods and Design Verification (DVE) inside of a product development team. You will advise mechanical and electrical design engineers on all aspects of DFx and the integration of product elements to arrive at optimized system designs. As an expert in these areas, you will work with external partners to improve designs, define processes, and develop equipment to manufacture industry leading products. We seek candidates with the ability to work with internal design teams and external production partners to ensure robust designs and processes. RESPONSIBILITIES * Manage Integration Engineering team Identify key roles required for team success and recruit top talent into FRL Advise internal design teams in DFx (Design for manufacturability, assembly, test and verification, safety, reliability, compliance, etc.) Lead DFx activities including DFx reviews, Failure Modes and Effect Analyses (FMEA) for Design and Processes, and Process Reviews Develop product design verification (DVE) plans, processes, methods, and equipment Manage external vendors in the design, creation, and qualification of assembly and test equipment MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * 10+ years industry experience in development and delivery of products Experience managing engineering teams in product development cycles Mass production experience (working with both domestic and over-seas manufacturing) on multiple consumer products Experience in DFx and Design Verification (DVE) methodologies for mechanical and electrical systems Knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes including joining methods, sealing methods, mechanical assembly methods, and assembly testing Experience managing external vendors to deliver on schedule Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Knowledge with 2D and 3D tolerance analysis BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with high speed automation and mechanized assembly and testing Experience with high precision assembly processes for high volume products MS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Facebook Redmond WA
