The Ceramics Group segment of PCC Airfoils and consists of three manufacturing locations - Wickliffe, Ohio, which also serves as Ceramics headquarters, Cleveland, Ohio, and Sanford, NC. The Ceramics Group operations supply ceramic cores and proprietary custom blended ceramic particulate systems used in the manufacturing of the investment castings. Products and systems manufactured in these operations include: custom blended ceramic shell systems, injection molded silica and alumina cores for investment cast airfoils, slurry cast cores for land-based turbine casting applications and ceramic extrusions. The operations are expanding due to sales volume increase and this provides unique opportunities for career growth and development:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for all facets of Product Development, Launch and Continuous Improvement. Has full technical and managerial responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating engineering department assignments. The key direct repots will be Senior Engineers, Product and Process Engineers. Responsible for yields, NPI and CIP, profitability, and scrap measured by PCC financial schedules. This position is responsible for facilities in Wickliffe/Cleveland, OH and Sanford, NC.

Specific Duties:

  • Management of the entire product life cycle, development of new products, processes and the continuous improvement (Cost and Quality) of the existing product line.

  • Responsible for overall yield of NPI and existing products.

  • Support operating department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.

  • Project coordination; Assesses customer needs regarding priorities, deadlines, and quantities. Interacts with customers, and develops special lots as necessary.

  • Confers with the engineering team, operations, and sales to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products

  • Ensures all EP's are accurate on the floor.

  • Selects, trains, organizes and supervises subordinates to guarantee their effectiveness, and personal growth.

  • Provides technical support and guidance to the production departments on new concepts, technical issues and overall manufacturing objectives.

  • Champions and supports the Engineering group's specific needs and requirements.

  • Establishes and executes annual operating budgets for area under supervision. Responsible to make or beat the budget. Takes appropriate action to correct deviations from budgets or operating plans.

  • Formulates long and short-range strategies for engineering functions.

  • Monthly and weekly forecasting and capacity review.

SMP manufactures investment castings utilizing proprietary technology for use in aerospace and industrial gas turbine engines. Products and systems manufactured in these operations must meet extremely close tolerance limits and adhere to customer specifications. The operations are expanding due to sales volume increase and this provides unique opportunities for career growth and development: RESPONSIBILITIES: The Engineering Leader for SMP will supervise Product/Process Engineers to create innovative solutions for investment casting issues and provide leadership to problem solve existing manufacturing defects. In this role, you will also champion new technologies to address current capability issues and develop merging product and process engineers.
