SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Engineering Manager will bear responsibility for strategic engineering initiatives, delivering supply chain productivity, and supporting innovation initiatives within the Denver plant. The Engineering Manager is responsible for the research, development, design, application, and testing of a wide range of machinery and systems, both as standard products and with custom features, according to productivity and innovation initiatives. This position oversees implementation and execution of project plans through design, installation, testing and implementation. They will direct, organize and manage all resources in support of engineering projects. They oversee and supervise the projects and activities with a focus on performance, budget, safety, and compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working through Plant Managers and Plant Engineers to develop long term site investment plans and preparation of individual projects to support plant goals
Manage capital forecast, and annual plan, including timely preparation of capital project written submittal, funding and execution as necessary to meet all capital commitments for the year
Manufacturing liaison to the plant, responsible for integrating business strategy with the Engineering function
Support plant objectives by applying Engineering resources to performance gaps productivity, quality, customer service.
Provides strategic leadership for defining and executing engineering vision, objectives, strategies and metrics
Provides technical leadership, guidance, support and oversight in equipment design and development; plant equipment specifications, acquisition and installation; machine tooling; service engineering, major equipment repair and overhauling
Provides overall stewardship for the engineering developmental projects (i.e. internal conceptualization and identification / management of external partners for equipment development) and identification of new equipment engineering opportunities
Translation of high-level equipment engineering development goals and strategies into projects / programs
Ensures equipment research design, development, and emerging technology are a company competitive advantage
Maintains an awareness of future engineering development
Plans the development and/or acquisition of required talent though development of skills and capabilities in the appropriate Engineering field
Develop site specific strategic capital plan 2-5 years out
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
10+ years' experience in manufacturing setting with demonstrated leadership skills at various levels
Experience working in a food manufacturing environment, preferred
Corporate interface including cross-functional team leadership
Demonstrated ability to manage mid-scale engineering development programs within complex organizations both internally and with external suppliers
Strong technical and project management capabilities
Strong track record in delivering business results
Demonstrated analytical skills using tools such as statistics, downtime tracking, mechanical history, project planning, etc. to identify improvement opportunity areas.
Solid knowledge within process and package is desirable
Broad base of leadership as well as a strong understanding of the business equation and how it impacts product initiatives, both practically and strategically
Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful
The successful candidate will be capable of working effectively in a high energy and rapidly moving environment
