Engineering Manager - Machining
Provide Engineering leadership and support to engineering staff by planning, scheduling and mentoring all machining engineering activities with key focus on developing new product processes and continuous improvement processes. Will manager a team of 4 6 employees.
Verify product loading and work cell capacity
Plan and budget for required investments in machinery and supporting tooling for new platforms or reallocated platforms for new processes
Coordinate supporting technical leadership and schedule for engineering projects
Introduction and thorough documentation of required systems and process ergonomics and safety to Continental standards
Supervise installation, debug and qualification of new equipment
Provide plan with engineering team of continuous improvement of processes, including:
o Cycle time improvements
o Reduction of change over time
o Reduction of manufacturing perishable tooling costs
Participate in team activities as necessary to achieve company objectives.
Manage prototype department and provide feedback for economic production processes
Work with Design Engineering and Central Industrial Engineering in design reviews and ECN's
Quote, design with supplier and procure cutting tools, fixtures and machines for new platforms current product process changes.
Assist in daily production trouble shooting issues as required (such as material, maintenance) (Production)
Participate and evaluate WT8 machining processes for accuracy (cycle time, capital expenditures)
Plan for Capital expenditures in machining working closely with Central Industrial Engineering for manufacturing machining strategy
Compliance to all Continental policies and procedures including, but not limited to, environmental, health, safety, security, ISO 14001 and Environmental Management systems, TS 16949 and Quality Management Systems, Human Resources policies, and Continental Business System elements.
Responsible to ensure all company and leased employees, visitors and contractors are aware of and compliant to all Continental and Henderson plant permits, policies and procedures including, but not limited to, environmental, health, safety, security, ISO 14001 and Environmental Management systems, IATF 16949 and Quality Management Systems, Human Resources policies, and Continental Business System elements. This includes of the disciplinary action of individuals who are in non-compliance to these policies in coordination with Human Resources department.
Oversee and supervise documentation of changes (PCR's, PFMEA, Operator Instructions and Tool drawings, etc.) to processes and equipment.
Supervise the maintenance of engineering library of documentation, drawings, programs.
Provide necessary tools required for manufacturing engineering discipline
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7 years of experience OR 14 years of experience
Automotive Engineering standards and best practices
Strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and tooling trouble shooting experience.
CNC Programing and controls experience (Fanuc, 805, 840-C, 840-D)
Project management and process control experience
8-D Problem solving analysis skills
Track record of Continuous improvement and cost savings implementation
Experience leading a team
