POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day activities of the Engineering team. Engineering manager oversees engineering operations for forming, machining, heat treatment, and final fabrication of aluminum and aluminum alloy aerospace components. The Engineering Manager coordinates with engineering, manufacturing, and supply teams to develop and guide the program manufacturing and tooling plan. He/she ensures the identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and improves manufacturing processes in support of the type design.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engineering implementation for all new programs and new processes.

  • Manage change control and configuration requirements.

  • Manage and develop quotes for new products, processes, and projects.

  • Communicate with department managers to set and drive the schedule.

  • Develops, establishes, and guides requirements for fabrication, forming, tooling, machining, and manufacturing configurations.

  • Work with the General Manager and Department Managers to ensure proper resources exist to support the current programs.

  • Develop metrics to show progress and report internally, as well as externally.

  • Utilize MRP system to ensure all tasks are being completed as necessary.

  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

  • Lead teams to establish standards of operation, manage expectations, drive performance.

  • Utilizing Goal development process to undertake key project initiatives for savings and productivity improvements.

  • Interface with customer teams to support development of product solutions and plans.

  • Be responsible and accountable for performance to budget and schedule.

  • Able to guide and lead change processes within the organization and drive new process development.

  • Demonstrate ability to manage projects using necessary tools to track and control budget, schedule, timing, risk, and execution of project to completion.

Required Skills/Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience with Catia, and other CAD/CAM systems are strongly recommended.

  • Must have experience with CNC machining

  • Prefer experience in heat treatment, forming, machining, and fabrication of aluminum and aluminum alloys or other metal alloys

  • Must have experience with MRP or ERP systems.

  • Must have excellent computer skills, and experience with all Microsoft applications.

  • Must have the ability to define and translate engineering requirements to manufacturing processes and controls.

  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve process discrepancies through systematic, data driven tools.

  • Experience with AS9100/NADCAP requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have an Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5 or more years of engineering experience in the Aerospace industry

  • Must have 3+ years managing teams.

  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing

  • Prefer bi-lingual English and Spanish

Physical/Work Requirements

  • Use various computer and office equipment as well as be able to move throughout the office and manufacturing area to talk/hear or otherwise communicate with employees, management, customers, vendors, and others.

  • Employees will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the plant floor.

  • Work Environment: Normal work environment is a typical office setting and manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Wage: $133K - $148K depending on experience
