Duties: Indiana Mills & Manufacturing Inc. dba IMMI seeks Engineering Manager in Westfield, IN to support the design and development of new products or improve current products using engineering disciplines and tools such as Stage-Gate, Computer Aided Design and Engineering tools, Test and Validation, Product Release, etc.; empower the engineering team to create, apply, and improve components and systems to gain optimum satisfaction, safety, and quality for the end user; lead and encourage team in designing and developing new components and systems, enhance existing ones, and innovate to attain customers' needs and achieve company objectives and strategic goals; create and approve documentation to convey design intent and compliance with all company and governmental requirements and standards; analyze data from tests, simulations, and results and adjust designs as needed and advise in implementation and integration of customer ideas; oversee the timely sequencing of prototypes, product designs, reports, presentations, and the identification of key characteristics and quality control plans through the exemplification of a positive work ethic and leadership; organize projects and maintain proper and effective records of timeline and analysis to suggest improvements; review and approve engineering documents such as engineering changes, PPAPs, Tool Status Approvals; measure performance and accomplishments in relation to department objectives and company objectives and goals; work with the appropriate parties and maintain secure records for confidentiality of product, inventions, patents, prints, and sketches; coordinate and assist personnel from operations, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, and purchasing and planning functions to assure timely reviews and deliverables; represent the company to the public, industry, and government in such a manner which enhances the reputation of the company and present positivity, and as an exemplary face of IMMI's mission and values; demonstrate and live out in an exemplary fashion the IMMI mission and inspire and encourage others to do likewise, as to reflect credit upon the company; continuously develop, maintain, and share the basic corporate philosophy designed to ensure all team members achieve their highest potential and reach personal satisfaction in the IMMI mission; fully support company programs, policies, and objectives.

The Engineering Manager will support the design and development of the following new components and systems: • seatbelts and occupant restraint products including but not limited to 2-point & 3-point seatbelt assemblies, multi-point restraint harnesses, cargo restraints, child restraint harnesses, • seatbelts and occupant restraint components used in emergency locking retractors, buckle mechanisms, height adjusters and other restraint-related devices, which are designed for high volume tooling such as stamping, molding, casting, forming, drawing, sintering, etc. The Engineering Manager will utilize the following engineering disciplines: • mechanical and automotive engineering, biomechanics, physics, dynamic, material science disciplines.

Domestic and international travel up to 25%.

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. 10 years of experience in mechanical and/or automotive engineering fields focusing on seatbelt product and occupant restraint design and development.

Experience with 3D CAD software. 10 years of experience in seatbelt product design and development which must include for high volume tooling designs such as stamping, molding, casting, forming, drawing, etc. 10 years of experience in design and development of seatbelts and occupant restraint products in consideration of multi-region regulatory requirements. 10 years of combined experience with the following engineering tools: GD&T, DFMEA, DVP, APQP, and QFD. 10 years of experience in working with and supporting suppliers to develop seatbelt components (e.g., stamped metal parts, injection/thermo/blow molded plastic parts, die-cast parts, sintered parts). 10 years of experience in component design which must include manufacturing process feasibility to meet or surpass functional, cost, and weight targets. Experience in launching occupant restraint products into serialized production with a focus on seatbelt related devices.

Knowledge of engineering and management principles. Knowledge of industry, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g. FMVSS, CMVSS, SAE, ASTM, ECE R16, AKLV, GB, NOM). Knowledge of the engineering methodology: Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM and DFA). In-depth technical knowledge of manufacturing technologies used in sheet metal forming and stamping, plastic molding (injection, insert, blow) and die-casting.
