VIEW JOBS 12/1/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-01T00:00 Division: Mobility Business Unit: Intelligent Traffic Systems Requisition Number: 232015 Primary Location: United States-Texas-Austin Assignment Category: Full-time regular Experience Level: Mid level Education Required Level: Bachelor's Degree Travel Required: 15% Division Description: Committed to the safe and reliable transportation of people and goods by rail and road, Siemens Mobility designs and manufactures across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. In the U.S., Siemens is providing rail vehicles, locomotives, components and systems to more than 25 agencies in cities such as D.C., New York, Boston, Sacramento, San Diego, and St. Louis. For more information, please visit: http://www.siemens.com/businesses/us/en/mobility.htm Job Description: Sharing the road takes on new meaning as the future of mobility gets closer every day. It's no longer just cars making room for bicycles. Privately owned cars will often yield to autonomous vehicles as cities become smarter. Public transit options will become the method of choice thanks to micro transit solutions that connect far-flung neighborhoods to convenient and safe city-run transportation networks. Technology-enabled solutions like these will be welcomed by a world where the urban population is expected to exceed 70% of the total population by 2050 and car congestion could grow dramatically if left unimpeded. In the U.S., car density is expected to triple by 2030. Fortunately, intelligent transportation solutions are being developed today that will help reduce congestion, lead to 30,000 fewer deaths in traffic accidents on U.S. highways, and help curb pollution around the world tomorrow. Seamless mobility is the future of transportation, and Siemens is leading the way. Our transformative approach to urban transportation combines existing infrastructure with forward-looking, application-driven technology that begins meeting tomorrow's needs today. We help make cities smarter by providing a path to a tailor-made transportation ecosystem that is more digital, connected, and integrated. Cities already appreciate the way our solutions make effective use of both their roadways and fleets while reducing costs, noise, and greenhouse gas emissions. In the near future, users will enjoy public transportation that is faster, more flexible and reliable, safer, and affordable. The result is an intermodal mobility ecosystem that dramatically reduces congestion, increases safety, improves accessibility, and reduces costs for cities and riders alike. As an Engineering Development Manager at Siemens Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), you will be responsible for shaping this future by leading an R&D team in the domain of embedded systems that support our nation's infrastructure – protecting drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists – all while improving travel times. These systems support connected devices and vehicles (e.g. traffic controllers, road side units, UPS, detectors, etc.) while supporting the complex decision-making tasks to control and optimize traffic in metropolitan areas. You will be part of a management team that is dedicated to supporting these systems and bringing the most innovative and highest quality products to meet that market needs. You will have the opportunity to build your experience in the ITS market, while developing leading edge solutions at the same time.
