Technical and cross functional leadership role with planning and engineering responsibility for developing and managing Traulsen's "customer-back" innovation and generational planning pipeline. This position is also responsible for regulatory compliance, making sure our products meet safety, sanitation, energy and environmental compliance standards.
Deliver a regular cadence of product refreshes to each of the company's product lines, periodically introducing new features to continuously enhance the competitive differentiation of Traulsen products
Responsible for regulatory paperwork, as well as for leading communication and education initiatives regarding compliance regulations
Stay abreast of upcoming regulatory changes and serving as an advocate in selected industry forums and regulatory bodies
Plan and direct all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects related to generational planning and regulatory compliance
Develop Product and Technology Roadmaps
Directly manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs
Matrix management responsibility for cross functional teams working on technology pantry development
Laboratory scheduling and capacity planning
Participate in developing and managing department budgets. Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of engineering outside service expenses
Advanced supplier technical development and reliability assessment
Oversee product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible
Evaluate and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project
Monitor progress and performance against the project plan
Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
Master's Degree in Engineering or MBA desired
Minimum 10 years of managerial experience, preferably in the refrigeration manufacturing industry
Experience with refrigeration systems engineering and with refrigerated cabinet design, testing and manufacturing requirements
Sound understanding of regulatory and agency compliance standards for food service refrigeration equipment
Experience in engineering laboratory testing and experimentation preferably related or relevant to refrigerated food equipment
Experience conducting technical feasibility assessments highly desired
Capable of resolving escalated issues that arise that may require coordination with other departments
Must possess key leadership qualities, including flexibility, reliability, self-starter and effective team player and communicator
A positive attitude focused on understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of our customers, both internal and external to the department and company
Strong analytical skills, detail oriented with an aptitude to work accurately and quickly
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Must be able to:
Perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, walking
Stand and walk from two (2) to four (4) hours per day
Climb up and down stairs two (2) to four (4) times per day
Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax
Work in office environment and on occasion in climate controlled factory
Travel occasionally, by various means of transportation, including car, train, bus, plane
